A few months ago I was doing an accessibility audit for a client. I opened the usual tools. The good ones wanted $300/month. The free ones were outdated, inaccurate, or locked behind a signup wall.
I thought: this is absurd. Accessibility is a legal requirement in most countries. Why is checking it so expensive?
So I built WebPossum.
The difference: no browser extension needed (unlike Axe).
Live preview with violations highlighted directly on the page (WAVE does this but requires extension must of time)
Clean readable report with CSS breadcrumb paths
WCAG 2.2 (most competitors are still on 2.1). You can choose WCAG versions.
No signup at all
Green/yellow/red on the actual page elements
Downloadable report
