April 16, 2026 Why WebPossum?

A few months ago I was doing an accessibility audit for a client. I opened the usual tools. The good ones wanted $300/month. The free ones were outdated, inaccurate, or locked behind a signup wall.

I thought: this is absurd. Accessibility is a legal requirement in most countries. Why is checking it so expensive?

So I built WebPossum.

The difference: no browser extension needed (unlike Axe).

  • Live preview with violations highlighted directly on the page (WAVE does this but requires extension must of time)

  • Clean readable report with CSS breadcrumb paths

  • WCAG 2.2 (most competitors are still on 2.1). You can choose WCAG versions.

  • No signup at all

  • Green/yellow/red on the actual page elements

  • Downloadable report
