I built AltSnap as a simple alt-text generator…but users kept treating it like a QA tool.

Turns out developers needed help catching the “small stuff” before launch; metadata issues, Open Graph problems, missing alt-text, duplicate H1s, sitemap/robots mistakes, AI-SEO signals, etc.

So I leaned into it.

AltSnap is now a lightweight QA scanner for freelancers and agencies, with a Delivery Checklist and a clean Site Report for client handoff.

Funny how products end up telling you what they really should be.

We’ve been busy improving AltSnap.ai, our tool that scans websites for AI-SEO and accessibility issues. Each recommendation and alt text we generate comes with a confidence score, helping devs focus on what matters most.

Something interesting has started happening:

Developers are taking our detailed recommendations (which include the issue, evidence, and “how to fix” section), screenshotting them, and pasting them into ChatGPT or Cursor. The AI uses our report like a spec doc, writing the perfect code fix. Then they mark the issue “resolved” in AltSnap and push to production.

We never expected people to use it that way, but it’s turning out to be a really powerful workflow.

Today I pushed a major update to AltSnap.ai — our AI-SEO scanning feature is now live.

AltSnap started as a simple tool that automatically evaluates and improves the alt text on websites; making images more accessible and WCAG-compliant through context-aware AI generation.

But the more I worked with users, the more I realized something important:

🧠 Accessibility and SEO are now deeply connected.

So now, while AltSnap’s JavaScript snippet scans your pages for missing or poor alt text, it also runs a lightweight AI-SEO readiness scan in the background.

Each site now gets:

• ✅ A site-wide AI-SEO score

• 📊 Page-level insights on discoverability

• 💡 Specific recommendations to help AI crawlers understand and index your content

The goal: help sites not only meet accessibility standards but also stand out in AI search.

As a solo founder, it’s been exciting (and a little exhausting) watching this evolve from a micro-SaaS idea into something that helps developers and creators make their sites both inclusive and AI-ready.

I’ve spent 30 years building websites in education technology, where ADA compliance was required from the start. I’ve written thousands of lines of alt text by hand, and it’s always been one of those things that’s important but tedious.

Now every public site is being checked for accessibility, and so many fail at the basics; especially alt text.

So I built AltSnap.ai a small JS snippet that automatically generates context-aware alt text for images, adds a confidence score so you know if it’s solid, and runs ADA + AI-SEO scans in the background.
