ASCII ART APP

Hi Indie Hackers! 👋

I’m a full-stack developer who loves building fun, creative, and highly optimized tools. Today, I’m excited to share my latest side project: ASCII ART APP.

The Problem Recently, I needed to convert some images into ASCII art for a project. I realized that many existing tools out there are either ad-heavy, strictly paywalled, have usage limits, or just output poor-quality results. I wanted something clean, fast, and accessible to everyone.

The Solution So, I decided to scratch my own itch and build ASCII ART APP. It’s a completely free and unlimited generator that instantly converts any everyday image into a retro, text-based aesthetic.

Under the Hood 🛠️ To ensure the active application component is blazing fast, lightweight, and provides a highly responsive user experience, I chose to build it using Svelte. Writing the image-processing algorithm to run smoothly directly in the browser without lag was a really fun technical challenge.

I'd love your feedback! Since I'm just launching this, I would absolutely love to hear what the IH community thinks:

1. How is the quality of the ASCII output for your images?

2. Is the UI intuitive enough?

3. Are there any specific export formats or customization features you’d like to see next?

Feel free to roast it or share the art you generate. Thanks for your time!
