We built Avenir to give every founder a voice before launch

January 16, 2026 Do we overestimate what Product Hunt actually validates?

Product Hunt has become the default answer to “how do I validate my idea?”

But I’m starting to wonder what it really validates.

From what I’ve seen (both launching and watching others):

  • It’s very good at rewarding novelty, polish, and timing

  • It’s less good at surfacing long-term demand

  • And it often favors products that are easy to react to, not necessarily easy to adopt

A lot of founders walk away from PH with one of two outcomes:

  1. Short-term hype that doesn’t translate into sustained usage

  2. A quiet launch that feels like rejection, even when the problem is real

The confusing part is that both outcomes can send the wrong signal.

A low-performing PH launch doesn’t mean the idea is bad.

And a high-performing one doesn’t mean the market is real.

It makes me think PH validates something closer to:

  • “Can this be understood and reacted to in 30 seconds?”

    rather than

  • “Is this a pain someone feels weekly or daily?”

I’m curious how others here think about it.

If you’ve launched on Product Hunt:

  • What did it actually tell you?

  • Did it change what you built next?

  • Or did the real signal come later, somewhere else?

Genuinely interested in how people interpret PH’s role now — as a launchpad, a signal, or just a moment.

January 4, 2026 We reopened Avenir — but this time we’re not “launching” anything yet

Some of you might remember Avenir from earlier this year.

Back then, we were experimenting with a futuristic launchpad concept and testing whether founders would actually care about public visibility for early ideas.

They did.

What we learned from that phase was more interesting than the traction itself:

• Most MVPs fail for the same 3 positioning reasons
• “Validation” is usually feedback from the wrong people
• Timing + exposure matter more than polish early on

So instead of rushing another launch, we paused and rebuilt Avenir around a different idea:

What if early ideas were observed, not pitched?

Right now, Avenir is in what we’re calling an Observation Phase.

We’ve opened a limited public board where founders can place raw ideas or MVPs in front of early attention — no decks, no demos, no hype. Just the idea, visible.

We’re watching how they behave:

  • which ones attract interest

  • which ones collapse immediately

  • which patterns repeat

That intelligence is shaping the platform itself.

There’s no hard sell here.
We’re just reopening the doors quietly and documenting what we see.

If you were part of Avenir before — or you’re curious how ideas actually perform before launch — you might find this phase interesting.

Happy to answer questions or share what we’re noticing so far.

November 4, 2025 Discovery isn’t a lottery — it’s a responsibility

For too long, the story of startup discovery has been:

  • Build in secret → launch → pray for upvotes → fade away if timing is wrong.

We built, we launched, we watched. And we realized — this isn’t just inefficient. It’s harmful.

It trains founders to optimize for noise over creativity.
To chase virality instead of substance.
To beg for luck instead of building their vision.

Discovery shouldn’t be a gamble.
It’s the bridge between ideas and the people who need them.
It’s the responsibility of the ecosystem — to surface innovation, to reward progress, to let good ideas live beyond one fleeting launch day.

That’s why we made Avenir:

  • Broadcast Layer: Show your idea early. Share prototypes, work-in-progress, concepts.

  • Billboard Picks: Every week, 3 products get permanent spotlight — not a 24-hour badge.

  • Terminal Navigation: Explore by intent, not algorithmic luck. Find projects that matter to you.

  • The Pulse Feed: A living feed powered by engagement depth and progress, not popularity contests.

Even our landing screen is built to inspire — a 3D interactive model, cinematic teaser video, and forward-thinking navigation. Because discovery isn’t just what you see — it’s what you feel when you arrive.

The question for every builder:
Are you participating in a 24-hour hype game, or are you helping shape a future where discovery actually works for creators?

If this resonates, we’re quietly opening our early waitlist and giving early founders a chance to claim their Founder Code and reserve a 1-week free Billboard slot:

Curious to hear from the community — what’s the biggest problem you’ve faced with discovery as a founder? How do you want it to evolve?

October 29, 2025 Product Hunt stopped innovating. Avenir didn’t.

Let’s be honest — Product Hunt feels like a museum now.
The same gray cards. The same endless scroll. The same boring navigation system that makes discovery feel like a chore.

You’re not exploring innovation — you’re just scrolling through noise.

It’s 2025. Builders deserve better.

That’s why Avenir exists.
We’re reimagining what discovery feels like.

  • A 3D interactive prehome that actually moves with your cursor.

  • A cinematic teaser video that draws you in before you even sign up.

  • And a terminal-based navigation — not for nostalgia, but for control.

Because the future shouldn’t feel like a spreadsheet.

Avenir isn’t another directory; it’s a living broadcast network where your idea gets discovered before it even launches.
Join the waitlist. Claim your Founder Code before it’s gone.
Then head to the terminal and broadcast your idea — you’ll instantly reserve a 1-week Billboard spotlight across our platform.

This isn’t Product Hunt 2.0.
This is the future of discovery.

October 29, 2025 Product Hunt makes you scroll. Avenir makes you explore.

We’ve all been there — endless lists, bland cards, and static thumbnails.
You don’t discover anything anymore; you just scroll until your eyes glaze over.

That’s not discovery. That’s fatigue.

At Avenir, we believe exploring new products should feel like entering another world — not filling out a form.

That’s why we built:
🌌 Terminal Navigation — type commands, not clicks.
🧠 The Pulse — a living feed that evolves with creativity, not algorithms chasing trends.
🪩 Billboard Broadcasts — where ideas are projected in cinematic motion, not buried under upvotes.

Avenir is the home where the future lives before reality.
You don’t scroll through it — you walk inside it.

October 28, 2025 Why Avenir’s landing screen already feels more futuristic than Product Hunt’s full career

Let’s be honest —
Most platforms that claim to be about innovation… look like they were built a decade ago.

You land on another “startup directory,” and it’s the same pattern:
a list of cards, a few upvotes, and a color palette straight out of 2015.

That’s not discovery.
That’s digital dust.

When we built Avenir, we wanted to feel the future before even logging in.

💫 A 3D interactive model — because discovery should be experienced, not scrolled.
🎥 A teaser video — the kind that feels alive, not static banners pretending to be modern.
🧭 Terminal-based navigation — because the future won’t be built on buttons; it’ll be commands and curiosity.

Avenir isn’t another page of launches — it’s a world you enter.
Every line of it was designed to make founders feel something again.

We’re here to prove that visibility doesn’t have to be boring —
and that the future of product discovery should look as creative as the founders behind it.

It’s rare to see something built for founders that doesn’t feel like a growth hack or a VC trap. Avenir feels like someone finally remembered why we build things in the first place not for algorithms, but for curiosity. So yeah, maybe it’s not perfect. But it’s one of the few projects that actually makes you believe the internet still has new corners left to explore.

  2. 2

Really like what you’re building with Avenir, tight promise, opinionated scope, and a fast “try → aha” loop. That’s the combo that actually sticks.

Two tiny moves that could compound quickly:

    • Pin a 30-sec zero-to-result demo right up top.

    • Add 2–3 job-to-be-done presets so new users don’t start from a blank state.

Curious: what single moment best predicts a paying user for you; first saved result, a second project created, or inviting a teammate? And which channel is bringing paying users right now; community, showcases, or search?

P.S. I’m with Buzz; we build conversion-focused Webflow sites and pragmatic SEO for product launches. Happy to share a quick GTM checklist if useful.

  3. 2

It’s minimal without being lifeless. Everything feels intentional, I like this approach.

  4. 2

The terminal-style navigation threw me off at first, but now I can’t stop thinking about how natural it feels.

  5. 2

I was skeptical at first, but the moment the landing loaded yeah, it hits different. Feels like stepping into a concept, not a website.

  6. 1

Really like how you’re rethinking not just the “what,” but the feeling of discovery.
Most platforms forgot that builders want to be inspired too.

  7. 1

Feels like it was made by people who care about the experience, not just the metrics. That alone is refreshing. Good job guys.

  8. 1

It’s been a while since a product felt like discovery for a lack of a better word but avenir might be one of the first to bring that energy back.

October 27, 2025 Why Avenir Will Own the Future of Innovation 🚀

We’ve seen countless platforms try to “support founders.”
But what they actually do is reward noise.
24-hour launches. Fleeting attention.
Then silence.

Avenir is here to end that cycle.
We’re building a home — not a feed — for founders.
And two core ideas make it possible: Avenir Picks and The Pulse.

Here’s why this changes everything 👇

1️⃣ Avenir Picks: Where Legacy Begins

On Product Hunt, you get upvoted and forgotten.
On Avenir, you get picked — and remembered.
If we feature you in Avenir Picks, you earn a permanent place on the platform.
You’re no longer buried under tomorrow’s hype.
You’re part of the ecosystem — a founder whose work stays alive.

Our job is simple:
Keep your idea visible. Keep your vision breathing.

2️⃣ The Pulse: Real-Time Discovery That Feels Alive

Instead of endless feeds, The Pulse is a living heartbeat of innovation.
Every project gets its moment — its rhythm.
You’ll never scroll past brilliance again.
We highlight ideas with soul, not just noise.

3️⃣ Discovery Without The 24-Hour Pressure

We reject the “launch day lottery.”
Avenir rewards building in public — your progress, your updates, your journey.
The spotlight follows you as you grow, not just when you launch.

4️⃣ Built for Founders, by Founders

We know the pain of shouting into the void.
That’s why Avenir isn’t just a platform — it’s a partnership.
We’re curating, amplifying, and sustaining real innovation.

5️⃣ A Movement, Not a Marketplace

Avenir isn’t trying to be another Product Hunt.
We’re trying to build a revolution.
A permanent home for builders rewriting the future.
If your mission is to change the world, ours is to make sure the world doesn’t miss it.

🔥 Your job is to build a revolution.
💡 Our job is to keep your idea alive.

Welcome to Avenir —
where discovery never dies.

Finally someone said it founders don’t need more feeds or short-term boosts. We need spaces that actually remember our work. Avenir feels like that space.

  2. 7

The idea of “keeping your idea visible” really stuck with me. It’s wild how many great projects that fade because there’s no platform that values long-term creation. Props to you guys for addressing that.

  3. 5

I like how this approach feels calm and steady no hype, just purpose. That alone makes it stand out in a space full of corporate decisions.

  4. 4

This is the first platform concept that feels like it understands the rhythm of building not just the launch day buzz. Avenir Picks + The Pulse sound like they’ll actually help founders grow after launch. Good job guys.

  5. 3

It’s cool seeing something actually designed for founders rather than for attention. Avenir’s approach feels grounded almost like the early internet, when things were built out of passion rather than for algorithms.

  6. 2

What stands out to me is how much focus there is on sustainability in discovery. Most platforms feel like a sprint this feels like it's built for long-term discovery.

  7. 1

Love this vision — especially the part about “rewarding progress, not just launch day noise.” That shift from hype to legacy is exactly what founders need right now. Discovery that grows with you instead of fading after 24 hours is such a powerful idea. Feels like Avenir could become the long-term home builders have been waiting for. 🚀

  8. 1

This post captures the frustration a lot of founders feel. Finally, a platform that’s trying to fix the attention problem instead of adding to it.

October 26, 2025 Why We Built Avenir with a Terminal-Based Navigation Instead of a Navbar

Most platforms use the same layout — a top or side navbar, multiple pages, and dropdown menus.
We wanted to do something different with Avenir.

Instead of traditional navigation, we introduced a command-based navigation system — built directly into a terminal.
Here’s how it works 👇

  • On the left sidebar, users can see a list of all available navigation codes (we call them exec commands).

  • Each command represents a page or action — for example:

    • exec.about → Opens the About page

    • exec.waitlist → Opens the Waitlist page

    • exec.billboard → Opens the Pricing/Billboard section

  • Users can either click a command from the sidebar or type it manually inside the terminal to navigate.

  • The terminal responds instantly — just like running commands in a coding environment.

This setup gives users two advantages:

  1. Speed — You don’t have to scroll or look for buttons. Type or click, and you’re there.

  2. Immersion — It feels like a workspace built for founders, not just another website.

We designed this system to merge a developer’s workflow with a clean, focused interface — so navigation itself feels like part of the building process.

When Avenir officially launches, this terminal system will expand — new commands, deeper integrations, and even personalized shortcuts for founders.

Our goal is simple:
Make navigation faster, smarter, and more fun — while staying true to what founders already love — the command line.

Honestly, this feels like a breath of fresh air. Everyone’s been trying to make web experiences look futuristic, but Avenir actually makes them feel futuristic. The terminal-style navigation gives off a pure builder’s lab vibe direct, fast, and purpose driven. It’s not just UI. it’s an experience that understands how creators think.

  2. 2

This is such a refreshing approach..

  3. 2

This is really creative. I love how you rethought something as “basic” as navigation and made it feel like a developer’s workspace. It’s refreshing to see design that actually respects how technical users think.

Curious, did you test this flow with non-technical users too? I imagine some would find it empowering, others maybe a bit intimidating. Either way, it’s a super original approach

  4. 2

We're deliberately ditching the standard top/side navbar layout at Avenir and replacing it with a command-based terminal navigation system.

Users navigate by typing commands like exec.about or exec.billboard directly into a terminal interface.

We believe this delivers superior speed and creates an immersive workspace experience that founders will appreciate.

The big question: As an Indie Hacker, does using a terminal to navigate a product sound exciting and efficient, or just annoying

  5. 2

i know the terminal never went away but this year its realllllyy making a comeback

  6. 2

It's an interesting approach to navigation in general looking forward to see how it evolves in the future

  7. 2

Not gonna lie, I didn’t think a command interface would work on the web, but seeing it in Avenir, it does work

  8. 2

I really appreciate the “why” behind this. Terminal-based navigation. Other wise it would have been a bit confusing to navigate for first time users

  9. 1

Really interesting design choice — terminal-based navigation feels nostalgic but also faster for power users. Curious how non-technical users reacted in your tests?

  10. 1

We built Avenir with a terminal-based navigation instead of a traditional navbar to create a faster, distraction-free, and developer-focused experience. This approach emphasizes keyboard efficiency, command-driven control, and a minimalist interface that mirrors how developers naturally work. By replacing menus with intuitive commands, Avenir offers a cleaner workflow, enhanced productivity, and a unique, tech-forward user experience.

October 25, 2025 Why Product Hunt Won’t Show Your MVP — But Avenir Will

Product Hunt taught us a lot — but it also taught us frustration.

  • Launch at midnight PST? Good luck.

  • Your product buried in 2 hours? Happens daily.

  • Frontend messy, cluttered, not future-ready.

  • “Upvotes > vision” decides who shines.

Avenir is different.

What Avenir Does Better:

  • The Pulse: Continuous spotlight on trending MVPs. Not a 24-hour popularity contest.

  • Avenir Picks: Real curation — only the best, not the earliest, not the luckiest.

  • Marketspace: Let founders own their future before reality. Build presence, collect feedback, shine.

  • UI/UX: Minimal, fast, and futuristic. No clutter. Just focus on your idea.

We’re not here to compete — we’re here to redefine launch discovery.

About

Founders often build amazing MVPs in silence with little visibility or feedback before launch. At Athena Labs & Reym, we wanted to create a platform where founders can broadcast their MVPs, get early feedback, and connec
