BestFrame
Extract the best moments from your videos, instantly.
Hey everyone,
A few months ago I shared BestFrame here, an AI tool to extract the best frames from videos.
Since then, I’ve been heads down improving the product (and learning a lot about what users actually want vs what I thought they wanted 😅).
Today I’m shipping 2 major updates:
🔗 1. Extract frames directly from a video URL
You can now paste a YouTube or Vimeo link and instantly extract the best frames, no upload needed.
This sounds simple, but it completely changes the workflow:
No more downloading videos first
No more manual trimming
Just paste → extract → done
🎯 2. New landing page (and positioning shift)
I also rebuilt the landing page from scratch (https://bestframe.pro/)

Big change: I stopped trying to explain the tech… and focused on the outcome.
Before:
“AI-powered frame extraction with advanced filtering…”
Now:
“Get the perfect frame from any video.”
Much clearer, much more direct.
Also added:
URL-based extraction front and center
Simpler UX (one input = one action)
More “creator-focused” messaging
📊 Early learnings
Simplicity > features (every time)
People don’t care about “AI”, they care about saving time
What’s next?
Batch extraction from multiple URLs
Better frame ranking (more “viral-ready” shots)
Enhance and upscale images automatically
Would love your feedback 🙌
Especially on:
Landing page clarity
The new URL feature → https://bestframe.pro/extract-frames-from-video-url
Who you think this is really for
Always happy to return feedback on your projects too!
Hey Indie Hackers 👋
I’ve been working on something new that started from a very personal pain point, and I’d love your feedback before launching it on Product Hunt.
🎯 The Problem
I record tons of short vertical videos — trips, life moments, nature, friends.
At some point I had over 1500 clips sitting on my phone, and I wanted to turn them into real photo albums.
But extracting good frames manually was: slow, inconsistent , boring and impossible at scale
Scrubbing a timeline isn’t fun when you have thousands of clips.
So I built a tool I wished already existed.
✨ Introducing BestFrame AI
BestFrame AI automatically extracts the best, most aesthetic frames from any video — in seconds.
Upload a video → AI analyzes → Get your best shots.
No timeline scrubbing. No manual work.

🔍 Bonus: Extract frames using a custom text prompt
BestFrame AI also supports prompt-guided extraction using CLIP by OpenAI.
Meaning you can ask for:
landscapeportraitanimalssport action
…and the AI will keep only the frames that match your prompt.
👉 If you don’t provide a prompt, it extracts the most visually aesthetic frames by default.
🧠 How It Works (technical overview)
BestFrame AI uses:
- CLIP (OpenAI) → text–image semantic alignment
- Vision-based scoring → sharpness, composition, clarity
- Similarity filtering → avoids duplicates
Works for short clips and long videos.
🧪 Try It Out (free test)
Upload a video and get your best frames instantly.
💬 Feedback Wanted
I’d love your thoughts — performance, UX, features you think would help, or things that feel missing.
Happy to answer any technical questions in the comments 🙏
