November 18, 2025 Spent 2 hours creating content briefs. Built an AI tool to do it in 5 minutes.

Three months ago I was managing a content team and spending 2+ hours creating detailed briefs for every article.

20 articles/month = 40 hours just on briefs.

So we built BriefGenius.ai - AI that generates complete SEO content briefs in 5 minutes.

What it does: Give it a topic → Get back: - Primary & secondary keywords - Search intent analysis - Competitor content breakdown - Recommended structure & outline - Target word count - Meta descriptions

Current status: Just launched free trial at briefgenius.ai (no card needed)

For Indie Hackers community: Would love feedback from anyone creating content. What's missing from AI content tools? What would make this more valuable?

Questions for you: 1. Do you create content briefs? How long does it take? 2. What's the biggest bottleneck in your content process? 3. Would you pay for this? What's fair pricing?

Brutal honesty welcome. Here to learn and improve.

November 16, 2025 How We Automated Content Briefs with AI (Simple Lessons + Happy to Share)

Building an agency gets repetitive—especially with client briefs. This year we built (and now use) an AI tool to generate, fill in, and finalize our content briefs.

If you’re running lean, curious how you:

  • Collect and finalize requirements for content/creative requests

  • Avoid back-and-forth or things getting missed

Our pain points: missed info, copy-paste mistakes, too much admin.

I can share our workflow or output if helpful! Interested to hear your approaches or suggestions.

November 12, 2025 Spent 2 hours creating one content brief. Built an AI tool to do it in 5 minutes. Here's what happened.

Three months ago I was managing a content team and spending 2+ hours creating detailed briefs for every article we published.

We were publishing 20 articles/month. That's 40 hours just on briefs.

So I built BriefGenius.ai - an AI tool that does it in 5 minutes.

Here's what it does:

You give it a topic (e.g., "best project management tools for remote teams") and it generates:

- Primary & secondary keywords

- Search intent analysis

- Competitor content breakdown

- Recommended structure & outline

- Target word count

- Meta descriptions

Basically everything a writer needs to create SEO-optimized content.

Soft launched 2 weeks ago and now doing a proper launch here on IH.

For this community: Exciting update! 🎉 BriefGenius now has a live free trial. We’re looking for real feedback from actual content writers and SEO professionals. If you work in this space, try it at https://briefgenius.ai/checkout and let me know what you think! Your advice will directly shape how we evolve the product.

Questions I have for you:

1. Do you create content briefs? How long does it take you?

2. What's missing from most AI content tools?

3. Would you pay for this? What's a fair price?

Grateful for any feedback - brutal honesty welcome!

Quick update: Since posting this, we've had 47 people test it and the most common feedback is "this would've saved me 10+ hours last week."

For anyone still manually creating briefs - I'm offering to generate 3 free custom briefs for the first 10 people who reply here with their topics. Just drop:

    1. Your industry

    2. 3 article topics you need briefs for

I'll generate them and send within 24 hours. No strings attached - just want to show what's possible.

    Who's in?

I like the problem you’re solving because content teams bleed time on briefs. The outline and competitive scan are where most tools fall apart though. Curious how well it handles topics that don’t have a clear SERP pattern. Does it still give something usable or does it get generic?

Great question Bill - you're right that unclear SERP patterns are the hardest part. What we do: when there's no clear pattern (mixed intent, varied formats, thin results), BriefGenius flags it and provides 2-3 angle options instead of forcing one structure. So instead of "here's THE outline," it says "SERP shows mixed intent - here are 3 approaches based on commercial vs. informational vs. comparison queries." Still useful because it surfaces the ambiguity early instead of your writer discovering it 2 hours into drafting. For topics with clearer patterns, it nails the structure pretty consistently. Happy to generate a brief for a tricky topic you're working on so you can see how it handles edge cases? Just drop the topic here and I'll run it. Curious what tools you've tried that fell apart on outlines - always learning from what doesn't work.
