BuildersBoard
Curated job board for founder-minded people.
I launched BuildersBoard in mid-December – a curated job board for generalists, ex-founders, and 0→1 builders.
The timing wasn’t ideal (holidays = dead period, lost momentum), but it was still enough to get some early signal on what actually works vs. what I only thought would work. Sharing in case it helps someone else.
What worked (actual traffic drivers)
Indie Hackers post
Posting here worked great. A few likes and comments kept the post visible on the main page for a couple of days, which drove first steady traffic.
Making it public on Lovable
I built BuildersBoard in Lovable and later tweaked it in Cursor. When Lovable launched public profiles and project sharing, I jumped on it immediately. That alone brought ~500 visits in a single weekend, which felt huge for such an early-stage project.
Direct outreach & founder conversations
I’m in a few Slack groups. Between that and LinkedIn’s and X's algorithm slowly learning what I care about, I started seeing interesting early-stage / founder-type roles and relatd content.
I reached out directly to a few people behind those roles, which sparked real conversations – and I noticed an uptick in direct traffic afterward.
What didn’t work (yet)
X / Twitter distribution
Traffic from X was low. Not shocking — my follower base is small (feel free to help fix that 😅 https://x.com/teddyberzatto)
Even with more posts and better tagging like #buildinpublic, it didn’t really move the needle. Clear lesson: distribution > posting more.
JobBoardSearch portal
This is a database of niche job boards, so I expected at least some traffic. On the free tier, though:
approval took ~1 month
it drove basically no traffic
I might test the paid version later, but for now it wasn’t worth the effort.
Retention
The flow was basically: land → browse → leave → forget.
Adding more roles alone didn’t fix that. There was no reason for people to come back
That’s why I’m launching a newsletter – partly to stay in touch, but also to share signals around high-agency work and how roles are changing, something I’m already spending time reading and thinking about.
If you’re looking for founder-type roles, 0→1 opportunities, or you’re curious how builder-style work is evolving.
👉 subscribe to the Builders Report newsletter https://buildersboard.work/builders-report
That’s where the best roles will show up first.
Next focus:
Make the newsletter the way BuildersBoard delivers value
Spend more time in Slack groups & Reddit, less on broad platforms
Work on GEO – I’m already seeing some traffic from Perplexity, so I’m trying to learn how to increase visibility for LLMs (even though I’m definitely not a marketer)
Still early. Still learning. Still building. 🏗️
I’m an ex-founder. Built something real, raised a bit, shipped a ton, got users — not a failure, not a rocket ship. Just the statistically normal startup outcome.
When I went back to the job market, recruiters had no idea what to do with a founder-type profile.
Everything was either too senior, too junior, too narrow, or too specialized.
Most job boards aren’t made for people who’ve done a bit of everything and actually like the ambiguity of 0→1.
So during my own search, I started collecting roles that were a good fit for:
ex-founders
early operators
0→1 builders
multi-skilled generalists
At first it was just for myself.
Then it became obvious others struggled with the same problem.
So I built:
👉 BuildersBoard — a curated job board for generalists, ex-founders, and 0→1 builders
It’s early, but I’m updating it regularly with roles that value ownership and breadth, not perfect corporate titles.
If you’re a builder-type person exploring new roles (or a startup hiring one), I’d love any feedback.
And if you're in that founder → job transition — you’re not alone.

This one hits home for me, different industries but similar problem. I sold my woodworking business in 2018 after years of building on a nationally recognized brand. It was exciting and fulfilling but did not lead to retirement. Now, if I am on the hunt to be a part of a team, my resume reads difficultly and doesn't tell the story of the skills I bring to the table. The concept of a job marketplace for this type of situation is incredible becuase both the hiring party and applying party assumably understand the starting point is truly the ending point of a past journey.

Thanks for sharing this :) It’s a great insight. I was initially thinking about this mainly in terms of more tech-focused roles, but it clearly applies to more traditional ones as well.

Thanks, I am struggling to hire someone with this type of profile. A Founding Engineer, full-stack web dev (Laravel and Nuxt). Will check this out!

Great to hear that! Go ahead and add it — it’s 100% free. I launched it this week, so traffic isn’t huge yet, but I’m actively working on growing it :)

This is such a great initiative exactly the kind of resource builders like us need! I’m a UI/UX designer who also does product videos and voice-over, helping early-stage products turn ideas into user-friendly interfaces and engaging demos. If you’re ever looking for someone to help showcase the roles, or even improve the usability of the board itself, I’d be happy to offer some free UX feedback or mockups. Would love to support BuildersBoard in any way I can!

how do you deem a role is a good fit for a founder?

Good question. It’s definitely not only about the title, however, all roles with the name founder/entrepreneur are a good starting indicator🙂
I look for signals in the role and the company rather than labels. For example:
high ownership and autonomy
early-stage or 0→1 context
scope that spans multiple functions (product, growth, ops, etc.)
ambiguity is explicit, not hidden > very important imo and tells a lot about comapny istelf
tldt - If a role expects someone to take responsibility, figure things out without a playbook, and build from scratch rather than just “run a lane,” it’s usually a good fit for a founder-type profile.
Ofc it’s subjective and early, but I’d rather keep the bar opinionated than broad and noisy.

Hey — I’m building a small AI project and I’m trying to learn from people who’ve actually built products before. I’m not selling anything. Would you be open to a quick 10-minute chat? I’d really appreciate your perspective.

For sure, you can message me on X.

This is a fantastic idea. I have the exact same problem as an ex founder / generalist / script kiddie / jack of all trades.
How did you get the companies that placed job offers?

Right now, it’s very early and fully curated by me. I find manually existing job postings, summarize them, and link back to the original job pages, including information about external sourcing. I am trying to reach out directly to people at companies behind roles I find interesting — on Slacks, LinkedIn, and elsewhere.
This isn’t a scalable approach, but I’m deliberately starting this way to keep quality high and make sure the roles genuinely fit a builder / generalist profile. Over time, I expect companies to submit roles directly, but for now it’s intentionally hands-on.

About
As an ex-founder, going back to the job market was tough — every role was either too senior, too junior, too narrow, or too specialized. So I built a job board for roles that actually want that kind of profile.
