December 31, 2025 Year-end recap with 1 transaction from a UK customer on the CapyDraw app, mixed feelings, both happy and a bit sad 😄

This year I built 2 apps.
One of them never made it to iOS — Apple rejected it around 10 times, so I gave up 🥲. First time in my life getting rejected this many times in a row.

The second app, thankfully, got approved on both iOS and Android, that’s CapyDraw, a small app about drawing and creativity.
I built CapyDraw simply because I like drawing for fun, but I draw badly, and often don’t know how to start. I figured many people feel the same.

CapyDraw aims to help anyone start drawing in a gentle, pressure-free way, especially kids, beginners, or people who draw just for fun.

I coded the app in Flutter for nearly 3 months, and I’m still optimizing the drawing performance to make it smoother.
The landing page only took me about 2 hours — I vibe-coded it with Google AI Studio since the app design was already done, so it was pretty fast.

Some features in the app:

  • Photo → Sketch: Take or upload a photo, and the app automatically turns it into an outline sketch for users to trace.

  • Dotted-line drawing with preset images: Like guided drawing and coloring practice.

  • 10-minute Speed Draw: Random topics to create a mini drawing challenge in 10 minutes, helping users build a creative habit and test their skills under time pressure.

  • Turn drawings into animated videos (new feature): This is my favorite part. After finishing a drawing, users just tap Gen Video to turn it into an animated video, characters can “move,” wiggle slightly, or feel more alive, without spending time doing animation manually.

My goal with CapyDraw is very simple:
To help people feel that drawing isn’t hard, and to turn small ideas into something fun that can be shared instantly.

I’m continuously improving the app. If anyone wants to try it, just search “CapyDraw” on the App Store or Google Play.

I’ve been developing a premium AI app concept called INNER — The Mirror to Your Mind. It’s designed to help users uncover subconscious patterns through subtle interactive choices and daily micro-interactions.

The goal is to create a deeply engaging and emotionally resonant experience that encourages self-insight, personal growth, and consistent engagement.

I’d love to hear feedback from fellow founders and developers on how to refine the experience and make it even more impactful.

This feels substantial to me, particularly the emphasis on reducing the terror of the blank page. ~

I've seen that drawing apps tend to win when they remove friction before they add power. Outline mode and dotted guides do that well. They let people start without feeling “bad” at drawing.

One frame I like here is :

Confidence before creativity. If they feel capable in the first 2–3 minutes, they continue. Otherwise, they bounce — even for powerful tools.

I'm curious how you're thinking about the primary user.

Is this more for kids learning fundamentals or adults who want something relaxing and low-pressure? The features work for both, but the messaging usually lands harder when you pick one first. Also, are you watching where people stop using it? First drawing finished versus third session tends to show if it's a novelty or a habit. Well, nice work keeping it approachable — that’s harder than it looks.

Firstly, thank you for your point

Actually, the app's appearance right now targets kids more, even though I tend to target both kids and adults at first. I will see whether the data proves it, or I need to change the app's appearance

I see two opposite scenarios in the data

      • Finish the first draw, and no comeback or even remove the app right away

      • Come back on the other days, and save several pictures.

I'm still thinking of the way to keep users using the app as a habit. But right now, user acquisition is much harder than this. I don't want to put a lot of money into paid advertising. Any advice?
