Pre-validation landing page and general updates

Over the last few days, I have gone and made a few posts on some platforms, mainly here:

The other platform I decided to get some insights from is Reddit and all of this was around checking if there is anything specific, I need to look at while trying to keep the landing page clean before I spend next week going with the intent to market and get others to sign up.

What I found:

I got very helpful advice across the board. The main takeaways for me are the following in no specific order:

  • Re look at the copy, at the current moment the wording is a little much, too marketing like and the subheading doesn't explain well enough what will be expected.
  • Get a footer in
  • Consider getting some platform to have early adopters gather (discord/slack but have a way to be in direct touch)
  • Have the prototype be part of the landing page to have a visual way of showing what the application will look like.
  • Look at using the build in tools for the browser of lighthouse to make sure the performance is dealt with as there was some latency from different regions accessing and it seemed slow

With these being the top main considerations, I have noted this down and I plan to get working on this really soon. Some I might push back but mainly fixing the content and landing page being first priority with then going suggested subreddits of personal finance and being involved there.

Other notes:

I have added some analytics and got tracking with getting the eyes of others on the landing page I managed to get around 100 views and 10 signups.

What is next:

  • Get the UX completed and make a video of showcase the use of the app UI and have it added to the landing page
  • Add footer and update the copy, less marketing towards what it does and more towards what it can give someone and how it benefits them
  • Show some comparisons on how it is different to the competition in some way
  • Get a list of subreddits around the "personal finance" niche and start getting more content with the intent to get signups

I have learnt the Reddit community is very helpful and looking to help. They give useful advice and aren't there to break you down but more often try to help you succeed. I got a few DMs which was surprising all helping and looking to give a helping hand.

Next week will be more of the same with some of this week's updates added and a few additions around the UX. From then I will be having a push again and from there have a test around validation.

Cheers!
