⏳ Chronobreak Journey #3 ⏳

Hi Indiehackers,

A little bit of context first. We are two makers, like you, building our first project: Chronobreak.

Chronobreak is an iOS app to easily follow League of Legends (LoL) competitive scene. If you don't know what the hell is League of Legends don't worry. LoL is a computer game and one of the most popular eSports at the moment. Anyway, you can imagine the app as if it was to follow NBA, NFL or something like that.

We are documenting our journey to get as much feedback as possible. Here are the insights of our 3rd week:

Chronobreak Journey Week 3

From Saturday February 23 to Saturday March 2

Features

Our main goal of this week was to prepare version 1.2 including new features like:

  • LEC real time Standings including:
    ** Team positions
** Wins / Loses / Winrate of each team
** Position change compared to the previous week
  • New "highlights" button in past matches redirecting to youtube video highlight.
  • New "watch live" button in live matches redirecting to live twitch streaming.
  • Indicator of the current week and upcoming match to improve navigation.

Time spent

We spend a total of 18.5 hours in 5 days as following:

  • 2 hours prioritizing and defining the product.
  • 3 hours designing iOS App.
  • 5.5 hours coding iOS App.
  • 4 hours coding Backend.
  • 4 hours of marketing. Mainly redacting release notes, reddit posts, this post...

Note that we are two persons so a meeting of 1 hour counts like 2 hours of time spent

Metrics

Currently, our main KPI is weekly active users because LoL matches are played every weekend.

If you think that we should be paying attention to a more important metric please let us know. All feedback is highly appreciated!

We now have 46 WAUS. We expect to at least double that number after this release.

We'll let you know how it was next Thursday in the next Chronobreak Journey

Next actions

To achieve this goal we are doing four things:

  1. Post a highly customized "Chronobreak journey" in the League of Legends subreddit. If you wanna see that (less business-oriented) post you are welcome: https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/avw6a0/chronobreak_journey_3_app_to_follow_lol_esports/

  2. Publish that reddit post also in the oficial European and American League of Legends forum.

  3. Make this post here :P

  4. Posting a Twitter thread on Saturday about a LoL (while LEC week 7 matches are being played). You'll see it on our twitter account: https://twitter.com/chronobreakapp

Thank You for reading

That's all so far in our Journey. Thanks a lot for reading this summary and supporting us. ANY KIND of feedback will be appreciated. We will be posting next Thursday here on Indie Hackers talking about results and next steps.

TL;DR

Chronobreak journey is a weekly post about our insights building an iOS App to follow League of Legends eSports. We write about time spent, app metrics, marketing actions... We would like that you join us along this journey.

Marcos.
Chronobreak co-founder.

P.S: I ALMOST FORGET. πŸ˜…If you wanna try the app feel free to download it from the App Store https://chronobreak.app.link/XjsmrKFuGU

Looking for some iOS #betatesters

Hi IH πŸ‘‹πŸΌ,

Hope there are some League of Legends enthusiasts here!

We are a Programmer & UX/UI Designer duo currently developing an iOS App called Chronobreak. Our goal purpose is to create an app to easily follow the League of Legends esport competitive scene

We wrote a first post a week ago in which we asked for feedback, ideas and opinions of the app draft. We launched our first version on Valentine's day (14th February).

We already launched the second update. A stable version with a lot of fixes and new features. Check it out on the App Store.

πŸ’‘We would be very grateful if you can give us some feedback. If you're not familiarised with esports, check it out as if it was a football app!

βœ‰ We also do have a beta tester group, if you want to try upcoming features, reach me out!!

Hey! just downloaded and took a look.

Overall it's really nice, I really like the features at the top that highlights and centers the week that's active.

I think the stacking of the teams with the score is tough though because it leaves the rest of the row empty. I know scoreboards are tough ( I work on a sports app) but a horizontal option that would work well here is:

(team logo) (tricode) (score) - (score) (tricode) (team logo)

lmk if that doesn't make sense

Hi! I'm Carlo, co-founder of Chronobreak! (we are two people).

Thank you so much for the feedback! We're glad that you like the app.

We have been testing with different elements on the right side of the row during this week. This is what we're releasing on Friday:

      https://imgur.com/a/D5yOJdw

Inside the green circle, you can see your solution, which I tried out!

The row element is clickable (it opens a highlights video or a live stream). We thought about adding that button to make that fact more noticeable. What do you think about it? One problem I see is that the "future matches" keeps the emptiness you was talking about.

Thank you again for your comment, we appreciate the feedback a lot! And we even more if it's coming from someone that is also working on a sport apps!

Let me share with you our next feature, the standings. We would be grateful if you tell us what you think:

February 23, 2019 Any LoL eSport fan here? #product-feedback-request

#product-feedback-request Hi folks!! Is there any League of Legends videogame follower? We are an indie duo: developer (myself) and designer (my co-founder and flatmate) that are building an iOS app to easily follow league of legends eSport competitive leagues.

We've already launched our MVP and we will appreciate any kind of feedback that you can give us.

At this point, the app is very simple but what it does, it does it well. In Chronobreak 1.1 you will find:

β€’ Complete LEC 2019 Spring Split Schedule including past matches with results, live matches, and future matches.

β€’ All matches are shown in your iPhone timezone so forget got crazy converting times every time you wanna see a match.

β€’ Easy navigation between different weeks of the competition.

β€’ Tapping on a past match will open a YouTube highlight video of the game and taping on a live match will redirect you to official twitch live stream hosted by /riotgames.

Hope you like the app and thank u so much for your time reading this.

January 27, 2019 Chronobreak Journey begins

My name is Marcos Sorribas and I'm a big fan of League of Legends competitive scene. This is a hobby that share with one of my flatmates, Carlo Padron. We really enjoy watch matches during weekends so we start thinking.. Why not build something related to league of legends? Something that help us and the community to follow league of legends competitive scene easily. There is nothing out there in comparation with traditional sports and we believe that in the future esports are gonna be as big as traditional sports, don't you?

So we decide to create chronobreak: An iOS app (at the beginning) built by two league of legends fans for all league of legends community.

We'll keep in touch.

Marcos.
