September 16, 2025 We built Cloud Sweeper β€” a FinOps agent that pays for itself 185x over πŸš€

TL;DR: Cloud Sweeper automatically identifies and tags idle/forgotten AWS & Azure resources, enabling teams to reduce cloud spend by 15–30%. We’ve just launched publicly, already have paying customers, and created a 10% Indie Hackers discount (code: INDIE10). Try it here β†’ https://cloudsweeper.io

Why we built this

We were tired of discovering β€œzombie” cloud resources (idle VMs, unattached volumes, forgotten services) that quietly ballooned cloud bills. Manual audits were too slow and expensive.

So we built Cloud Sweeper to automate the FinOps basics without risky automation. Instead of deleting anything, it tags resources (cloud-sweeper=true) and sends alerts β€” you stay in control.

How it works

  • πŸ” Nightly scans of AWS CloudWatch & Azure Monitor to detect idle/forgotten resources

  • πŸ”” Sends alerts via webhooks (Slack, Teams, Jira, or your own endpoint)

  • 🏷 Zero-risk approach: only tags resources, never deletes them

Early results

  • Already have paying customers.

  • One recent scan found $4717 in monthly savings across 24 idle resources

  • ROI multiplier: 185x vs plan cost

Would love your feedback

What’s more valuable for you:

  1. Slack/Jira alerts to your team via webhooks notifications

  2. Automated cleanup (with approval workflow)?

Your thoughts will shape our roadmap.

About

I'm a CTO who discovered we were wasting $200K annually on forgotten cloud resources. Built scripts to fix it, friends wanted it, now it's Cloud Sweeper.
