Been heads-down building this out, so wanted to share where Drefly stands today.
The big update: AI Insights is now 100% free, no paywall, no credit limits. Every screen recording on record.drefly.pro automatically gets:
An accurate transcript
A summary of the whole recording
Auto-generated chapter markers
Translation into dozens of languages
A "perception scan" that reads on-screen text and context frame by frame, not just what was said out loud
You can also edit any of these insights after they're generated (fix a transcript line, tighten a summary) and download them individually, as a bundle, or baked into the video itself.
We also support BYOK (bring your own key) if you want to use your own AI provider key instead of ours, useful if you're already paying for a model elsewhere or want more control over usage.
That perception scan has been the differentiator for us. Most transcript tools only capture audio. We wanted something that understands what's actually happening on screen too, code in an IDE, text in a doc, a UI you're walking someone through.
On sharing: recordings go out with a PIN, and you get full control over exactly which AI insights are included in that share. Want to share the video and summary but hold back the raw transcript? You can. Viewers can comment with pinning and reporting, synced live back to you.
Since a few people have asked "what else does Drefly actually do," here's the full picture:

developer.drefly.pro, the same recording and AI toolkit, built for teams: customer calls, support sessions, bug reports, demos, onboarding. Same transcript, summary, translation, sharing, and download features, plus the option to pipe recordings straight into your own S3-compatible storage instead of staying locked in.
PDF tools, this is honestly where we started and still our deepest feature set: convert pages to PNG/JPG, merge images into a PDF, combine or split PDFs, compress without wrecking readability, rotate/delete/reorder pages, annotate regions for sharing to WhatsApp, Slack, email, or X, and pull embedded images/icons into a zip.
Office bridge, Word to PDF and back, Excel to print ready PDF, PDF tables/text into editable Excel, slide decks flattened to PDF.

Would love feedback, especially from anyone who's dealt with the "bucket permissions are a pain" problem before, curious if the CORS setup step is the sticking point for people.

The “it’s broken” bug report problem is painfully real. The self-hosted storage approach is interesting too, especially for teams that already have their own bucket setup.
Curious how many people actually get stuck on the CORS/bucket configuration versus just not wanting to touch infrastructure at all.

Thanks Aryan, appreciate you digging into that. Honestly it's a bit of both from what we've seen. Some people get through the bucket setup fine but trip up on the CORS config specifically, others just don't want to deal with any infrastructure at all. We don't host anything ourselves though, we just support and guide people through doing it on their own bucket.
On CORS specifically, it's just about allowing whichever domains you want to record from, so it's more of a one time config step than anything ongoing.
We just added a blog post called "How to Integrate Drefly Into Your Company" that walks through the integration with every possible step, so hopefully that clears up the CORS confusion for anyone stuck there. Also put together a full YouTube walkthrough if that's easier to follow, linked right in the post.
Worth mentioning too, the self hosted approach is really about privacy and data ownership at its core. We don't want to be another company sitting on customer data we can't be trusted with. Our privacy policy on the site spells this out clearly, we don't own any of it, it's entirely yours.

That makes the distinction clearer. The fact that some users avoid infrastructure entirely while others are fine with it seems worth watching. I’d be interested to hear what you learn as more teams try Drefly.

We just launched Drefly - a browser-based toolkit built around three things: file tools, video tools, and AI tools. Every tool is free, with no account required and no file size limits.
File tools cover the everyday stuff - PDF (merge, split, compress, edit, convert to/from images, annotate & share, extract embedded media), Office documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint to/from PDF), and images (compress, convert, resize), plus a downloader for pulling video, audio, or images straight from a post URL (X, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, and more).
Video tools - Crop Video, Clip Video, Reel Maker, and Record - run right in your browser using WebCodecs/ffmpeg.wasm, so the file doesn't have to leave your device for most jobs. Longer or heavier conversions that a browser can't handle are quietly handed off to a backend worker instead, so nothing just fails or times out.
AI tools - Summarizer, Translate PDF, PDF to Markdown, PDF to JSON, and Transcribe - handle the heavier lifting. You can use Drefly's built-in AI, or bring your own API key (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter, Mistral, DeepSeek, or Cohere) for unlimited use. Your key is only ever kept in your own browser and sent directly with your request - it's never stored on our servers.
Under the hood it's a plain HTML/CSS/JS frontend with no build step, backed by a Python (FastAPI) API - simple on purpose, built to stay fast rather than pile on unnecessary complexity.

What I found interesting is the principle behind the product rather than the number of tools.
Building new capabilities only after they repeatedly prove they're needed tends to produce a collection that feels intentional instead of simply comprehensive.
