Update 80: SaaS email onboarding teardowns

Happy Monday, Indie Hackers!

  1. What we worked on last week and how well did we achieve our goals?

I published 2 new posts on the Encharge blog, 2 SaaS email onboarding teardowns. If you run a trial-driven SaaS product, you should check them out.

Email onboarding teardown of Hey.Space — https://encharge.io/email-onboarding-teardown-heyspace/

Email Onboarding Teardown of Fixel.AIhttps://encharge.io/saas-email-onboarding-teardown-fixel/

I've gone over each single onboarding email of these SaaS companies, providing critique + actionable tips.

I had 3 sales calls. Unfortunately, lost a potential big client.

On the tech side, Slav has almost finished our identification resolution.

  1. What we're working on this week, and what are our goals?

We have set up a new weekly prioritization/monthly goals framework to follow using an impact/effort grid - https://share.getcloudapp.com/DOu8x2Dy

The goal for the month is to close 5 new customers.

My activity for the week is to publish 2 newsletters, write 2k words, and help onboard/acquire a new customer

Slav is finishing the ID feature and is going to work a new big feature — app Events v.2., as well as customer development on LinkedIn.

  1. Anything important we have learned or anything we are struggling with?

We learned that you don't have anything until you talk to the decision-maker. We lost a big account lead that we actually never had, as the decision-maker was never on our side. Lesson learned — identify the decision-maker early on in the sales process, and arrange a call with them before you deem a lead hot or cold.
