I had a chance to talk about Engage and its "why" with YRV Dynamics this week!

We explored how Engage was created out of a need we observed with doing community outreach for school districts. Then how this observation turned into a real product. Engage is definitely still in the early stages and we are continuing to improve it for our users.

June 28, 2024 Telling Feature Stories

We've received some feedback that Engage is hard to understand to someone who isn't familiar with survey tools. To help fix this, we've created a series of Feature pages that demonstrate that feature in an animation and an example.

Here is the sticky notes page. It attempts to show how you can Engage your audience with online sticky note surveys that spark curiosity, action, and participation.

By incorporating more interactivity, clear benefits, and stronger visuals, you can make the value of Engage's Sticky Note Surveys immediately apparent, even to those unfamiliar with survey tools.

May 16, 2024 Exploring AI

We have implement a new AI summary tool into Engage. Basically, when an Engage survey receives a lot of text responses, the AI tool will provide a summary of the responses for the admin to view. The goal is to highlight key points from a large amount of data.
We are currently beta testing this feature and excited to see how it can help users gather better insights.

May 2, 2024 Marketing is Tough

This post is more reflective. Its true that marketing is arguably the hardest part of any venture. It's relatively straightforward to build something; even if there are technological hurdles, the process of making progress can be outlined and followed. Getting users for your service or product isn't necessarily the same.
At Engage we have 300+ sign ups but we are still exploring how to achieved consistent growth. Currently, we are trying to make the product as useful as possible, hoping that this will lead to people loving it and referring others.
We will see how this goes!

April 26, 2024 New Pitch Pages

We've been exploring how to showcase Engage and its value to specific customer types. To help do this, we've created 10+ pitch pages that provide a case study of how Engage can be used.

One example is for media and content creators.

You know how generating leads for your newsletter or having a high-quality comment section can be difficult? For example, you might have a great new article but you don't get any newsletter signups or the comment section is trash.

Well, what we did is create a web app, called Engage, that can help you increase audience participation, create interactive content, and generate leads.

Engage simplifies the familiar sticky notes activity and moves it online. You can upload an image, decide how many sticky notes you want people to place, and then send that engagement link to your audience, anywhere in the world and completely online.

Your audience can submit their sticky notes quickly and on their own device. This opportunity to interactive with your content is a perfect way to generating leads to grow your newsletter or channel.

April 19, 2024 New Explainer Video

In an effort to best explain Engage to new and potential users, we created a short 60 second explainer video! This new video will go on our landing page and hopefully increase sign-ups.

Overall, we have been exploring ways to better convert visitors to new users. Most of our growth has come from design competitions but we need to find other ways also. Expanding our reach with video is just one part of this effort.

Nice, this is a great move. A good explainer video on the landing page can make a huge difference in how fast people understand the product.
From what I’ve seen, the biggest impact usually comes down to how clearly the value is communicated in the first 10–15 seconds. Especially for SaaS, if users don’t “get it” immediately, they drop off no matter how good the product is.
One thing that often gets overlooked is that explainer videos are not just about explaining features, but about guiding users through the core use case and reducing friction in understanding.
A lot of founders focus on visuals, but the real leverage is in structure and messaging. That’s why more SaaS-focused teams are starting to treat explainer videos as part of the conversion funnel rather than just a nice addition to the landing page.
Studios like Moodive seem to approach it that way, focusing on clarity, onboarding, and actual impact on signups rather than just animation.
Curious to see how this performs once you add it to the page.

March 14, 2024 Passed 300 users

Today we passed 300 accounts on Engage!
This might be a slight vanity metric but it is still something to celebrate.

Most of the growth has come from our design competition to reimagine the future of DuSable Park in Chicago. As part of the competition, participants must use Engage to gather feedback on their design. The competition entry period closes on April 1st and we are very excited to see what people create.
