FitmateApp
mobile app for people who look for someone to workout with
Yesterday’s recap
Yesterday I managed to develop a few features for the Fitmate App.
I’ve added a Popup to User Avatar so now whenever a user wants to check short info about the creator of the sports event.
Native Base is a really great UI library which has this Popover component that enables you to do it quickly.
I also have finished the UI for the Joining event Request notification. What’s left is to actually hook it up to the Notifications service…
What else? Some boring code (not really for a dev) code cleanup happened too.
Totally worked on the app for around 2-3 hours which is great in my current situation.
5.30 am continues
I woke up today again at 5.30 a.m.( 5.45 to be totally honest ) and managed to put around 2 hours of work on the app, which as I mentioned above- is awesome.
Those 5.30 am mornings give me a really great start and motivation for the whole day of client dev work.
I feel more productive overall on the day and I tend to procrastinate much less.
Some time ago I started writing more Todos for my side project and client work, I started with doing them inside Notion like most of my stuff, but lately, I’ve been putting more of them inside the code.
Less context switching enables me to focus better on them.
Productivity improvements
Today I created a Markdown TODO file inside my project and put all the tasks I’ve put inside different files in the code into this 1 file for a better overview of what needs to be done in the APP.
I knew I need to finish soon because my son’s waking time has been approaching so I’ve also added a few more tasks to this TODO Markdown file and even added labels to each of them.
Overall it has been the second-most productive day in a row. Hopefully, this saga will continue this way.
I’m trying to stay balanced and go to sleep as soon as possible because I want to do the work slow and steady and avoid exhaustion at all costs.
Wish me persistence,
Paweł

Good morning,
Today I woke up at 5.30 am. This is my first attempt to join the 5.30 am club. I don’t even know if this approach will work for me in the long run, but I have to try.
The last 2 weeks were crazy; my son got sick and I had to take a few days off work to help my wife care for him.
Unfortunately, it led to me not working on my side-project and my main goal for this year and those blog posts - Fitmate App.
What is Fitmate App?
Fitmate is an idea ( for now) for an app I had some time ago actually. I’m working on making it a reality.
Fitmate is a mobile app for people who want to find someone to work out with. That’s the basic idea.
Want to go play Squash, but you have no friend who’d be interested in that? Fitmate got you covered.
Want to go jogging regularly and have someone to keep you accountable? Fitmate got you covered.
You travel a lot and want to keep in shape, but you rather stay at the hotel by yourself than go to exercise by yourself? Fitmate got you covered.
Those are the few assumptions I have while working on this app.
Why?
This idea isn’t a new one for me, I’ve actually thought about it for some time already, I even started building some no-code solution using Adalo some time ago, but I stopped.

I didn’t have enough will and motivation to work on anything challenging besides my day ever since my son was born.
I say to myself I was too tired to focus. I don’t know if I was, but I really almost don’t remember anything that happened between 2019 & 2021.
So that’s the introduction to the Fitmate blog. I don’t yet know where I’ll put it, but I’ll try to keep it updated every day while I build this.
The goal is to have a working version of it released by the end of 2022. We’re on the 6th of October right now, so not a lot of time left.
Wish me persistence.
