30.000 subscribers!

We just crossed the 30k subscribers milestone!

I wrote a few words on social medias for the occasion:

🎉 This Week In React - 30,000 subscribers 🙉

Thanks for reading, everyone ❤️️

If you told me 4 years ago that it would ever reach that size, I wouldn't believe it!
But things compound nicely with consistency and discipline 📈

My initial goal was just to attract freelancing gigs in France and raise my rate.
I started working for Meta on Docusaurus in 2020 so I never really benefited from the many consulting leads I got.

The big question was: should I continue this time-consuming project if I don't benefit from it and it only reduces my invoiced time and income?
Many times I thought about stopping everything, even recently.

Turns out you can make it sustainable with sponsors and enough subscribers 😄
It's tough, particularly when I have nothing else to sell other than ad slots, and I'm not an extrovert comfortable producing engaging videos.
But I think I passed the most difficult years and will eventually be able to decide if it should become my full-time job.

To be honest, my gut says I want to remain a developer, and not become a full-time tech journalist, so I'm likely to turn this media into a team, delegate, or make it more community-led.
Let me know if you want to be involved.

Overall, I really like to own my little business.
I always wanted to be an Indie Hacker with a profitable side project.
I learned a ton of things about growth, marketing, SEO, sales, analytics, paid ads, and many other things in the process, that will certainly be useful in future projects.

We are so back... from paternity leave, so a bit sleep-deprived 😅
The next issue is tomorrow, catching up with 1 month of news!
