GoHosted
Host & preview PDFs, Excel, Word, HTML and images
GoHosted is a lightweight document hosting service that makes PDFs, Excel, Word docs, HTML pages and images instantly viewable and embeddable. Short links, embeddable viewers, CDN delivery and a simple REST API — launched and ready at https://gohosted.app/.
The problem
Sharing documents and media still feels clunky: recipients download attachments, embedding viewers is inconsistent across platforms, and the developer experience for programmatic hosting is fragmented. Many teams end up emailing huge files, uploading to general-purpose storage, or pasting links that force downloads.
What GoHosted does
GoHosted hosts files (PDF, XLS/XLSX, DOC/DOCX, HTML and common image formats) and serves them with:
Instant online preview in-browser (no download required).
Public short links for sharing.
Embeddable viewer you can drop into any site or app.
Simple REST API for uploads, retrieval, and access control.
CDN-backed delivery for fast loading.
Configurable access: public / unlisted / token-based.
Who it’s for
Makers and founders sharing product docs, whitepapers, one-pagers.
Devs who want embeddable viewers or programmatic file delivery for apps and docs.
Small teams and publishers that want a lighter alternative to large file-sharing platforms.
Key features
Multi-format preview: PDF, Word, Excel, HTML, images.
Embed-ready: iFrame / JS snippet to embed a viewer in any page.
Short links: human-friendly share links.
Simple API: upload, fetch, and set access rules with a few endpoints.
Performance: files served via CDN for speed and global coverage.
Access control: public, unlisted, and token-protected options.
Pricing & launch status
Launched — available at https://gohosted.app/. We offer a free tier for basic hosting and previewing, and paid plans for larger storage, private links, and higher API quotas. (If you want details about pricing tiers here, I can paste them into the post.)
Roadmap
Next up: richer embed customization (theme + toolbar), Webhooks for processing events, native integrations (Notion/Slack/Discourse), and improved team/ACL features.

This is a super practical tool — especially for founders and devs who constantly need to share docs without forcing downloads. The “instant preview + embeddable viewer + API” combo fills a real gap between Google Drive (clunky UX) and full storage platforms. The access control modes are a great touch too. 🚀
Curious to test this with a product one-pager — will share feedback after trying the embed flow.
