New year, old project
by GavThe idea for Hacked Website Fix came about a few years ago. I was working at a web agency at the time. We came in one Monday morning to find around 100 customer websites had been hacked over the weekend. Not a great start to the week.
Our team dealt with hosting, and it wasn't long before the problem made its way to us. The more research I did the more I realised just how common this issue was, especially with WordPress websites. And that's when the idea for Hacked Website Fix was born.
I put a basic website together offering help in the form of a one-off fix for any hacked websites. I spent some time promoting the site, but most of the customers that came through were generally from word of mouth.
After a while Hacked Website Fix ended up on the back burner as I concentrated on other projects. I still spent time helping repeat customers and offering monthly updates for people who'd been hacked in the past, but there was no real growth.
Occasionally new customers still come through looking for help though. Website security is as big an issue as ever. So, I've decided to refocus my efforts for 2023 on Hacked Website Fix.
My plan is to offer three different services, each with different tiers:
- Urgent fix: for websites that are hacked RIGHT NOW
- Site guard: a subscription service for individual websites
- Server guard: a subscription service for servers with a number of websites
Underlying each of these services will be one core component - a real person. A combination of pattern matching, machine learning will and traffic analysis will offer 24 hour monitoring, but when the defecation hits the ventilation there will also be real people on hand to help you out. I think that's what a lot of people really want in a high stress situation, an actual person to have your back.
A new website and new price plans are in the works. I'm hoping to get some inspiration and advice from fellow Indie Hackers to make the most of this fresh start.
