HelloTriangle
Online Python 3D modeling
Hey IndieHackers!
After months of building, refining, and testing — HelloTriangle is officially live!
If you’ve ever needed to create or analyze 3D models, you probably know the pain:
Expensive, complex CAD software that’s overkill for your needs
Open-source tools that require deep expertise and tricky installations
And when you finally want to share your work… you end up with 2D screenshots that lose all the 3D insight 😅
Why we built HelloTriangle
I’ve been working with 3D models for over 15 years and noticed how many people struggle with tasks that should be simple. So we set out to make advanced 3D modeling more accessible.
With HelloTriangle, you can:
✅ Create, edit, and analyze mesh-based 3D models using simple Python scripts
✅ Work directly in your browser — no installations needed
✅ Visualize and share your 3D work instantly via a link
What’s next
We’re super excited to finally open the doors and start gathering feedback from real users. If you’d like to play with it, create an account at hellotriangle.io — and let us know what you think!
While we’re still developing HelloTriangle.io — a platform for online 3D modeling using Python — we’ve also been investing in getting people to the site.
In January, we started a blog and a library of examples to grow organic traffic.
The strategy:
Each blog post and example focuses on a specific topic in mesh generation or 3D modeling.
We optimize around niche but relevant keywords like “hexahedral mesh generation” or “boolean operations on surfaces.”
Posts include real code and visual results.
The results:
Traffic has been doubling every month since Jan.
April passed 100 unique visitors — still limited, but the trend is promising.
All organic. No ads. No social.
We just published a new post on how AI might impact traditional simulation workflows — with some interesting new data that we collected about scientific publication trends.
It definitely takes effort to produce quality technical content — but we believe it’s worth investing early, even pre-launch.
Curious to hear: have others here tried a similar strategy before launching? Did it pay off for you?

We've published a post on the power of parametric mesh modeling—using code to define geometry, rather than clicking around in a GUI.
At HelloTriangle, we’re building a modeling engine where both geometry and mesh density can be controlled programmatically. Why? Because it lets you:
Create repeatable and dynamic structures
Adjust geometry and mesh density by changing a single parameter
Perform mesh density analysis for physics-based simulations (FEA and CFD)
If you're curious about code-driven geometry or procedural modeling, check out the post:

Would love to hear you thoughts on this novel approach to parametric modelling!

Most 3D modeling tools rely on GUIs—which are great for getting started, but quickly become limiting for repetitive or custom tasks.
At HelloTriangle, we're building a Python-first modeling platform because scripting opens up a world of possibilities:
Automate repetitive tasks
Get reproducible results
Solve complex problems GUIs can't handle
Customize everything with code
We wrote a short post on why Python and code-based modeling can outperform traditional GUIs, especially in technical workflows.
Enjoy the reading!
Would love to hear your take—have you scripted geometry before?

Hey IndieHackers!
For the past few months, we have been working on HelloTriangle, a script-based 3D modeling platform designed for engineers, researchers, and technical creators. If you’ve ever struggled with complex CAD software or wished for a Python-powered way to generate and manipulate 3D geometry, this might be for you.
What makes HelloTriangle different?
✅ Python-first workflow – Script 3D models instead of clicking through UI menus.
✅ Mesh generation & editing – Easily create, extrude, slice, and transform meshes.
✅ Cloud-based – No installations. Work from anywhere.
✅ Built for engineers & researchers – Focus on precision and automation.
Where we are now
🚧 Still in pre-launch – fine-tuning core features.
👀 Looking for early testers & feedback before we launch.
💡 Would love to hear from 3D modeling enthusiasts, engineers, or anyone interested in 3D modeling!
If this sounds interesting, follow along & stay tuned for updates. I’d also love to hear your thoughts—What’s your biggest frustration with 3D modeling tools? 🤔

I am an expert 3D parametric CAD user and expert FEA mesher. This app could be a game changer. Be prepared to get this right and then Ansys will gobble you up and bundle you into their cosm. I just signed into your email system. I have done enough meshing to know you have your hands full.

This looks like an amazing project! I’m a QA Engineer and would love to offer a free mini audit of your website before launch. I can quickly check for any bugs or UX issues.
Let me know if you’d be interested!

Great logo.
Do people use the tool for 3D world creation - making characters and maps for stories or games?
Thanks. The product is more oriented towards engineers and researchers, but you can also use it to make more artistic 3D creations.
