April 29, 2025 200 sign ups on autopilot

I went on holiday for two weeks and part way through noticed a surge in sign ups for our waitlist.

I’m not sure where the link was shared, but this was a welcome surprise and the perfect motivation for me to build now that the holiday is finished.

Thanks to anyone that joined the waitlist.

March 2, 2025 Waitlist signups have tailed off, time to market more

Traffic to our landing page has dropped a bit as we have been focussing on building.

The build is progressing well and we have the main foundations in place already.

This week we need to give marketing some focus and reach out to interested users for their input. We are keen to build the product that kids and parents want!

what was your startegy mainly within social media sphere if it was a use case , to get people to sign up ?

Most of the traffic was actually from Indie Hackers. Aside from that, further back in second place was LinkedIn and I only made a couple of posts there.

February 28, 2025 Cranking up marketing and development

Our beta waitlist is still growing at a steady and encouraging rate.

This week my wife has picked up the baton for marketing and preparing information to share with the waitlist and possibly in a blog post.

I have started the development work to model the Knowledge Spaces and tracking student progress in the through them.

February 25, 2025 Researching knowledge space theory

This past few days we have been modelling how we can represent, store, navigate and track achievements within a Knowledge Space.

A Knowledge Space is a structured representation of all possible knowledge states a learner can have in a particular domain. It maps out which concepts or skills must be mastered before others, creating a framework that models how knowledge can be acquired step by step.

This will be the foundation of our app and we are really excited about how we can use this to target the right learning topics.

February 20, 2025 The waitlist is taking off!

Our waitlist is taking off so I added PostHog analytics so I could have some visibility on where the traffic is coming from.

There was a little direct traffic and some from X.com, but the best performer was from indiehackers.com.

Thanks to this community and if you aren't posting updates for your product here, then you should start now!

Signed for waitlist. I have similar family situation and am always trying new learning apps for my kids.

The problem I find is that, even if the app is fun, they lose interest if it isn’t tailored to exactly their “learning need.” If it is too easy they get bored. If it is too hard they get frustrated. There is a 3rd version where they are kind of into it but it is not matching what they do at school so I pull the plug so they can focus on what school is needing.

My dream is that the fun side is complemented by a “pedagogy engine” that ruthlessly isolates what’s confusing my girls, and tailors the task to fill the gap.

Like in math, when kids learn to tell time, there are several foundational skills required (skip counting, knowing the two hands, understanding how 12 hour cycles work).

With my youngest, I couldn’t consolidate time because she had one tiny misapprehension on how it 12 hour periods worked.

The thing is, “pedagogical content knowledge” is a known thing. A teacher somewhere will know how to ID the conceptual flaw and then knows 4 ways to try and address it.

I almost want any Ed app to be running on some giant semantic tree of pedogogy knowledge (imagine a Wikipedia for all learning tasks with the pedagogical “gotchas”).

Then the app can learn and adapt.

I'm really excited that you have signed up.

We are going to support Knowledge Spaces from KST using a knowledge graph and track the students completion of each node.

Every second of focus is important so we need to maximise the impact!

If we detect a student struggling to grasp a topic we can use LLMs to help us present the topic in another way. Learning from what works for a given student will also help improve how we can teach them.

how did you decide to use posthog instead of other services?

    1. 1

I usually just use Google Analytics, but a heard a few mention PostHog and wanted to try it. My usage of both services is pretty basic tbh. I probably need to up my game in that respect and SEO in general.

Very promising idea! Please check your confirmation email, it redirects to example com when pressing to confirm the email address. I hope I am in ur waiting list :)

You're def on the list 😁 I'll resend confirmation emails when I'm sure it is working.
When did you get this email, because I thought I fixed that earlier today?
I just tested and it does work now. Thank you for letting me know though.

February 19, 2025 Added a waitlist

This week we added a waitlist to our landing page to collect emails from people interested in trying the product.

We've been receiving a steady stream of email addresses all week.

We also received a video roast of the landing page and updated the page accordingly.

Congrats on setting up the waitlist and getting a steady flow of signups! That’s a great milestone. Where did you get the landing page roast? Sounds super useful, and I’d love to check it out for my project. Also, how did you go about collecting those email addresses? Any specific channels that worked well for you?

    1. 1

The roast was from another member of the smallbets.com community and I added Posthog for web analytics yesterday and it appears that since then most traffic has come from this site. Also, a very small number from an X reply.

Hey there! Big congrats on the waitlist progress. I'm really interested in the nitty - gritty. When you were setting up the form to collect email addresses, did you use a specific tool? And how did you design it to make it look so inviting?

    1. 1

I am a developer so I built it myself. The site is Ruby on Rails and I used Tailwind for styling. I did take a lot of the styled components from https://www.landingfolio.com/ and used GitHub Copilot to stitch it all together a bit faster.

February 12, 2025 Added a clearer description of the product

Today we added a "How it works" and "FAQ" to our landing page to better describe what we are offering.
