MailMaestro
AI email assistant that helps you write better emails faster
After a year of being Outlook-only add-in, our AI is now avialable on Gmail as a Chrome extension (https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/mailmaestro-email-copilot/hjdkljkgenkplcgeecgjjgijpipnneai).
It was a tedious process of back-and-forth verification process with the Google team, but in the end it was worth it!
It's extremely tough because Google has just deployed Gemini for Gmail, and Microsoft also deployed Copilot for MS, but so far we haven't seen down-trends in our daily signups which is good.
Does anyone here have tips on best practices in ranking up our listing in the Chrome appstore? We're at rank 214 at the moment when filtered to Productivity > Communication.
MailMaestro has now officially launched on Product Hunt and landed Top 4 Product of the Day (https://www.producthunt.com/products/mailmaestro)!
The team has worked non-stop and focused on creating buzz around the pre-launch of MailMaestro for 2 solid weeks.
We have tackled several channels to bring excitement for the launch such as:
- Emails
- Different communities
- Our own app's feature alert
- Whatsapp groups
- and so much more!
While the start of the launch day didn't really go smoothly as we had hoped for (all details here: https://www.indiehackers.com/post/royally-screwed-up-our-launch-can-we-still-fix-this-or-is-there-no-hope-cd9cefb326), we had acquired tons of valuable learnings from our hits and misses, nonetheless.
Several of the communities we have joined as well has been super supportive of the launch and we cannot thank everyone enough.
As a result, while the timing issue totally threw us off the game during the first few hours, we were able to catch up in the rankings and ended at Top 4 Product of the Day!

It's time.
The moment our team has been working on these past 8 months is here. Our used-to-be free add-in will be a paid product now. For 8 months, we have built a 10k user list, and now it will be a pivotal moment for us as we will now start limiting usage of our add-in into a 2-week trial. We'll start seeing churns, inactivity, drop on usage, etc.
We've launched a referral program at the same time (https://referral.maestrolabs.com/) so that our users who don't want to pay can still extend their free access indefinitely, which means for every person who downloads MailMaestro through their referral links, both of them will get 2 weeks additional.
While we're getting tons of signups for the referral program, sadly the downloads aren't keeping up.
Out of 10k users we've had up until this point, we were only able to convert roughly 120 users to upgrade, and very little number of people to actually get their friends and colleagues to download our AI. What are your thoughts? Is this number healthy or normal? Note that we have never done any paid ads.

Hi IndieHackers Community!
Did you know that 43% of professionals are utilizing AI at work, but 70% of them choose to not disclose this to their bosses? This poses serious potential data protection vulnerabilities. Emails, being the most widely used communication tool globally in professional settings, is no exception.
That’s why we’re proud to introduce MailMaestro!
Our mission is to revolutionize email management by harnessing the power of the same cutting-edge OpenAI technology that ChatGPT uses to boost your productivity, save you time writing high-quality, personalizable emails, and ultimately making inbox management easier.
If you're a professional who doesn't have the time to dig deep into email threads, can't afford to spend time drafting a long company email, or just generally need help in going through your email inbox for work but are afraid of potential data leaks, then you should definitely give MailMaestro a try!
Your feedback will be incredibily helpful, fellow IndieHacker! Check us out here: https://www.maestrolabs.com/

Hi, I just used your Chrome extension, and it was amazing, to say the least! I have a quick question though: Since you’re building a Gmail assistant, why did you choose to develop a Chrome extension instead of a Gmail Add-on? An Add-on would work across browsers, so there wouldn’t be a need to develop separate extensions for other browsers, right?
From a developer’s standpoint, could you explain why you opted for an extension over a Gmail Add-on?
