Memorize By Heart
Memorize Anything. Faster.
2 years after working on this side project, I have hit $1000/month!!
I've done next to 0 marketing, so I'm proud that people have found this app and it has benefited their lives.
Apple and Google take 30% of the revenue. I knew I needed to have another outlet. Adding stripe will increase my profits by 28%.
Also by providing a web version of Memorize By Heart, it can be more of an incentive to upgrade to Premium for cloud storage. "Use from any device".
It only took me from April to September to make what I built in 2 years. A lot of the logic translates over which is helpful.

There were some ups and downs here:
Downs: The pricing from paid to free went out before the update to the app! I thought it would go the same time. As I woke up the next day, my app was picked for the App Gone Free by AppAdvice had been over downloaded 8,000 times without the premium update! So when the update came the next day, some disgruntled people thought I pulled a bait and switch. It was an anxiety-ridden learning moment.
Ups: 4,000 more downloads WITH the update :). Sales doubled from $300/mo to $650-$850/mo.

I know some people don't do Android because iOS users spend more money, but this was worth it. A year later (June 2020), Android users spend just as much as iOS on Memorize By heart.

I launched Memorize By Heart on Product Hunt and made it 5th overall for the day! It pushed my app to #14 paid app for Education on the App Store! Overall it resulted in over 1,000 downloads at $0.99 each.
I was shocked, excited, but didn't know how to keep the momentum going. It was this moment that I knew I was on to something big and people were craving for better memorization tools. I knew there was more that I needed to build.

After a couple months of building an MVP in React Native, it was time to launch.
I first started out on the iOS app store since my whole family has iPhones and I wanted them to try it out.
The initial price was $0.99. I didn't want the price to be a burden on anyone and it wasn't fully built out.

I wanted to memorize a 700 word document, but didn't find an app complete enough to help me. The app focuses on listening, speaking, seeing, and feeling the memorization through games and spaced repetition.

Congrats :)!! Do you think traffic all from App Store?
Apple store search, Google Play search, and SEO to the website.
iOS is ~43% of my users. Android consists of 42.5%. Web is ~16%. It's over 100 because the app is cross platform with people using more than 1 platform
This is helpful for us to learn - thank you for sharing!
Well done! That’s awesome, especially with no marketing.
Thanks to Apple and Google, it's possible
Congratulations!! I’m happy to see you hit this achievement!
Thanks :)
