The coolest part is that it took 10 minutes from the moment I clicked "Send email" to the first feedback. Internet is awesome.
A fun little feature just in time for Christmas 🎅
It's something I wanted to add for a while. Not necessarily the most requested feature, but something I believe everyone will appreciate.
Notes are a huge part of Pine and will continue to get better.
Two weeks ago Pine launched on Product Hunt.
It was a fun experience with lots of lessons learned.

It's just a simple Gatsby site! I find it pretty great for blogging, writing in markdown is much more pleasant than editing some Wordpress doc.

I was wondering why you suggest to be active on PH a few months before launching. I am mostly a passive user on PH, looking for stuff and upvoting if I like it. Is there any advantage if I engage more or did you list this so people learn how PH works before launching?

Hey!
I don't think it's very important generally speaking, but as far as I managed to understand - the PH algorithm takes into account your activity on the platform. If you've hunted stuff before and it got ranked well, your new stuff would get ranked even higher.
In fact, there are top hunters on PH, that will offer to hunt your products for you, so it would score better.
But the number of previous upvotes, comments, engagements etc are also taken into account.
On my launch day, there was a product that had fewer upvotes and comments than Pine, but it would keep getting placed above me. I suspect it's because of the hunter.
Apart from all that - you'd just get more familiar with the platform, which helps.

I'm incredibly excited to announce the version 1 release of Pine!
After months of gathering feedback from beta users, tweaking and updating, I feel like Pine is ready to be released!
It's still far from perfect, but I've been delaying the launch for long enough now!

Hey, congratulations!
Your home page and product look very polished, you can see you've put the effort in. Just a minor thing, but under "Do much more with Pine" those hover states on the left make it look like they should be clickable.
You piqued my interest as I'm building a similar product that I've also been working on for the last year or so - https://getyourganize.com/ - it's really interesting to see your approach to features and branding as a similar product.
Upvoted you on PH and will follow your story, perhaps we can exchange tips/pitfalls in our development journey as we start to get feedback from users.

Hey, I had a little test, and made some notes.
I created a to-do in the inbox, but didn't know where it had gone once I created it
I wasn't sure what "Log" was for or why I would need it
I wasn't sure at first what the boards were - perhaps the #Welcome could be more explicit, like #StartHere👉
I added a bookmark (Twitter) - the output for the Twitter description has some HTML chars that need escaping, it outputs like this - Twitter. It's what's happening.
I'm not sure when things would appear in my Inbox, or what that's for - maybe a short explainer on that page when it's empty

Congrats, Pine looks really slick. And getting those first $5 is amazing! 💯 I might try it (though I am experiencing "tool fatigue". It seems there are so many great tools out there, and they all require time investment 😅)

I'm trying your app and of course, I upvoted on PH. Pine intrigued me a lot as I'm in a forever-search of the best app to manage my to-do lists ... or maybe I'm just escaping from them.Well, I like the concept, it seems a Notion-like editor but more oriented to to-do and tasks rather to generic content, I like the bookmarks (most of my to-dos are URLs), I like that you can change the layout and focus more, the most innovative things, to me, are the Habits, they have great potential like tracking physical workout, quitting coffee and even tracking more exotic progress (maybe via an API). Though overall I feel a bit lost and confused when I started to use Pine, due to the complex "architecture". The first Note guides the user and it's good, but still, I can't understand all the entities Notes, Todo, Bookmarks, Tags (they seem pages/workspaces to me), Boards, Sections and why there's so many? Moreover, I would try to highlight a key selling point and added value that distinguish Pine from Notion or other competitors.

It's always great to have some fresh eyes on your work - Yes I believe the product grew a lot and is becoming less obvious. It seems more and more clear that I'll need to add some onboarding and/or simplify many things.
As far as notion goes - "It's kind of similar to notion" is the way I describe it to friends lol. In fact, I discovered notion when I was about 3-4 months into building Pine. Notion then grew exponentially, which is awesome on one hand as it shows people want products like this, and scary on the other as Pine is so similar to something that's already so big.
At the moment it's a similar product with a different feel and focus. If you're using one - you won't need another.
Pine at the moment is very bare-bones and will focus much more and habits and todos to have a different focus from notion.

With the core functionality of Pine done, it's all about improving the look and feel now. Here's a before and after of the New Todo modal:
Feels like spring cleaning! Making an app better lookings and more usable is quite the meditative experience.
All new modals will be coming out this week!

- You can reorder todos in the timeline and sections
- You can now add images to notes
- 100mb of cloud storage now comes FREE. Everyone can try out file uploads!
- A whole bunch of bugs have been fixed thanks to you!
First beta invites were sent out today!
That's cool and exciting, buuuuut, a number of those emails went to spam.
That's an important lesson, it's easy to get marked as spam. I'm pretty sure that using a mailer service would have prevented this.

Pine is getting closer to release.
It felt like a good time to release an early signup page.
After two years of work, this is the very first thing that's open to the public.
The public site alone took some time to develop.
Aside from the signup form and the homepage I wrote two blog posts and added a changelog.
