Launched on Product Hunt

After 30 days of building it's time to officially launch Pod Hunt, on Product Hunt off course:

https://www.producthunt.com/posts/pod-hunt

I know 30 days seems short, but as someone who typically launches in days (if not hours), this has been a slow and deliberate process.

I talked with a lot of users after the soft launch, 2 weeks ago, and tried to address the concerns they raised.

Pod Hunt is effectively a 2 sided market, and I wanted to make sure it worked for both the people creating podcasts and those listening to them.

I wanted to share some prelaunch statistics, so we have something to compare to later!

๐Ÿ“„ Pageviews: 7,356
๐Ÿ  Visitors: 1,734
๐Ÿ™โ€โ™€๏ธ Users: 211
๐Ÿฆ Followers: 200
๐Ÿ“ผ Episodes: 198
โœ‰๏ธ Subscribers: 67

A new number to start tracking...

๐Ÿ’ต Revenue: $101

Excited to see how the launch goes today!

Thanks to everyone for the support and helping me to get this far!

Congrats @Mubs very impressive numbers indeed and really nice website.

    Question
What is the stack of the website? Pretty impressive load (based on your tweet)

    1. 2

Yep going to rethink the UX a little around the listing, the podcast and category pages are all pretty new :)

The website is built on Laravel PHP (Ubuntu server, Nginx, MySQL), all hosted on a single Digitialocean droplet.

PHP and Mysql with this load? Well done ;)

        1. 2

          PHP/MySQL gets a bad wrap.

I once had a site do 350K pages in a single day, running PHP/MySQL on a $5/month Digital ocean droplet, not a static site either!

I upgraded it to the $20/month server, and in the next 2 days it did 1M ๐Ÿ˜€

Poor me, Didn't expect PHP in there :-/ Thanks for sharing it!

Hey just seen Pod Hunt performing great on PH, seems that you really take the time to read user's feedback, love to find out how makers are putting their eyes on podcasts recently :)

    1. 1

Of the people I spoke with, currently most people rely on recommendations from friends or influencers.

Pod Hunt actually encourages this, but reduces the friction. Making the process easier for everyone involved.

Congratulations @Mubs, Could you please share how did the latest metric - Revenue start flowing in? Sponsors is it?

    1. 1

Yep, emailed a few podasters I know asking if they'd be interested in becoming supporters, and got the thumbs up, so I built the feature pretty quickly ๐Ÿ˜€
