November 9, 2025 Steal this business idea - How Gemini helped me pivot from consulting to SaaS

My most recent question to Gemini today was "How do I fix my URL on Indie Hackers?" - Turns out, I can't. But, I can turn it into my founder's story.

You'll notice my URL is for my original business concept "Revenue VIP" (Which I still think is a really good idea). The premise revolved around finding clients with a lead gen magnet, getting on a consultation call, and closing them on a high-ticket "AI Blueprint Roadmap" ($1,995+). The product was a strategy to revamp their entire business to give them a competitive advantage with AI. This is how it works.

I would conduct a "deep dive" into the customer's business and see where it can be optimized with AI. Instead of developing AI software myself, I would build a comprehensive list of 100s of AI tools (There's so many out there now) and write them a detailed roadmap on how to integrate the BEST AI tools into their business.

The Pain: Small businesses are scared of AI. Their employees are worried it's going to take their jobs, and it's too advanced for a typical mom-and-pop business owner to understand. Pitching them to save 5-figures and helping them understand the basics (prompts, integrations, etc) is an easy sell for serious business owners.

I want a lifestyle business. That's why I pivoted to Micro-SaaS. SourceZenAI.com was built almost ENTIRELY with AI Agents. Gemini serves as a "Business Consultant" vetting ideas and giving advice on how to code (I was surprised at some of the recommendations that worked!). I used Airtable to build out the database backend and develop the AI engine that runs the system.

If you know anyone who wants to start an AI Consultant Agency, give me a reply and I can give you the whole business model (All I need to do is ask Gemini for a summary anyway.)

November 8, 2025 Today, SourceZen is problem hunting

I found a very cleaver resource to help with problem hunting, aftermark.ai. The founder posted in the r/buildinpublic community on Reddit offering advice on how to advertise a Micro-SaaS. Then, at the end of offering high value, he had his plug for aftermark.

This is how I'm approaching my marketing now. It feels like 9/10 of the Micro-SaaS business is marketing (after validation). I'm learning as I go, since this is my first (of many) Micro-SaaS products.

Now, I'm doing my own problem hunting on Reddit. Using Gemini to help build useful replies to real problems people are having.

I got my first 2 organic signups.

A very interesting book to read with great insights into startups is "The Lean Startup" - And one of the most crucial pieces of feedback is that "customers don't care if a product takes a long time to make"

It can feel like we're being REALLY productive if we take 40+ hours building a feature, but if it doesn't solve a real pain point, no one will care. A tool that solves a real problem but only took 1 hour to build provides much more value.

Hey! I'm actually the founder of Aftermark !! Would love to get you some free access if keen?

One thing I’ve noticed is that even a quick explainer or promo video can help users grasp the value of a tool instantly, especially when you’re testing features and messaging. Curious have you tried using a short video for your first signups or landing page yet?

    Really like your approach here!
One thing I’ve seen work well for Micro-SaaS launches is a 1-minute explainer or promo video it helps potential users understand the product instantly, even before diving in.
Curious, have you considered trying one for your landing page or first signups?

November 3, 2025 SourceZen.ai - The world's first AI powered supplier pipeline

Hey everyone,

I'm an e-commerce reseller turned developer building my first Micro-SaaS in public. This started as a passion project and now I have a fully functioning prelaunch MVP!

My Story:
I recently sold my Amazon FBA wholesale business. One of the biggest challenges for new sellers is supplier outreach. For me, it was one of my biggest hurdles that prevented me from growing my company. The task required me to hire a full time assistant, build a custom CRM workflow, write out detailed SOPs, and hold meetings to make sure we were hitting weekly quotas.

I decided to build an AI tool to automate the whole process. It looks like it might be the world's first AI powered supplier pipeline. The tool is called SourceZen - and it automatically generates a website URL, product category, MOQ, dropship policy, and contact info with 1 click using just the supplier name.

The Build Struggle:
The biggest challenge I found with AI software is the AI credit usage. The project almost died last week because of an "AI Consultant Insights" feature that ate up too many credits on each supplier. I was able to get the credit usage from 55 credits down to 32 credits per run by removing this field and keeping the most valuable features. This move makes the project highly viable at a $49/month "Founder's Rate" (with a usage limit of 200 suppliers/mo). Since this is automating 90% of a full time job, the savings are $1,000+ every month for retailers & entrepreneurs.

I have a demo video on the website showcasing it in action. If anyone is interested in a tool like this, you can join the wait-list on the website too > www.sourcezenai.com

I would love to hear your feedback! TIA

This is awesome love seeing someone turn real pain points from their own business into a tool like this. The way you’ve automated supplier discovery and outreach feels like it could easily expand into a full workflow automation layer.

I’m building something in a similar space with Simplita.ai, focused on visual full-stack automation for builders. Would love to swap notes sometime your approach to optimizing AI credit usage sounds super interesting. How did you decide which data points were worth keeping vs cutting?

Thanks for the reply. As far as deciding which data points were worth keeping, I had 1 very costly field in the table that was generating a "conversation" reply text. Most of the other fields were simple 1 word replies (URLs, policies, emails, etc) - My conversation level reply was supposed to be an "AI Consultant" that would give the user advice about the supplier, with 3 stages (Profile, Analysis, Action) - That alone took up about 15 AI credits per run. Once I removed that (which was a great feature) I got that down to 32 credits per run. I was a former seller myself and I know that although that feature would be great, the most important features are pulling the URL & contact info. I'm going to try to add it back in later at a higher price tier once I launch the product for premium users.

Thanks for the question, checked out Simplita, let's stay connected!

Makes total sense trimming that “AI Consultant” to keep things lean was a smart move. Love how you’re thinking ahead about a premium tier. Appreciate you checking out Simplita! We’re building a visual automation layer for full-stack AI workflows would be awesome to have you on our waitlist so we can swap notes once both products are live. https://simplita.ai/

About

I'm a reseller turned developer who experienced just how time consuming & tedious manual outreach was. My method involved a full time employee, a CRM, a purpose built SOP, & weekly meetings. I want to replace all that.
