Best way to discover Vancouver on foot
We are deciding to slow down with our Facebook marketing. We are still working on weekly user engagement posts (FB & insta) and we keep are low-cost App Features Ad running on a 40$/day budget. Our new users numbers are slowing down to 100/week..
We are going back to white board to figure out what we have to focus on next. Since we are in NY we are thinking launching it here, it is a good testing ground for us as we can just walk out side and start talking to customers, New York's tourist season in whole year and city is made for exploration on foot.
One caveat is that we don't have a city's tourist board as our client. This would be our step towards one 'global' app.
When we look at our avg. in-app time per user - it is between 1 and 4 min a day (based on Fabric's daily report). That alone doesn't give us enough. Even when we look at statistic on average numbers by vertical (40min a month per user for Travel & Lifestyle) we could be under that number or way above.
To really find that we are going to analyze our Fabric logs we have started populating around mind August. And, so that we don't get caught in various vanity metrics it is really important for us to see what those users are doing. Stay tuned....

We were so busy with marketing in August and September, that I didn't even realize when we reached 1000 App install mark.
Well we did on Sept. 20th! This was goal for Facebook marketing channel when we started on August 1st.
There was definitely a learning curve for all of us! We had marketing campaigns that were < 2$ per install and some that almost ended up costing 10$ (we killed those fast)
Our last campaign is still running - it's a product feature Ad that is costing us around 2.5$ per install. But what is more important is that we are now seeing around 30% of DAU being new users. Users are coming back!
Our MAU is steadily growing at around 800 now.

We are almost done with rebranding, we found a someone who will help us with marketing on Facebook and is from Vancouver which means she will be able to talk to users in person!
I've also done my homework and I can really recommend following books:
- Talking to Humans - for anything related to Customer Development
- Traction - this ones cowers a lot in terms of different marketing strategies!

We really got bummed with out 'failure' to get people to immediately download our app. Well turns out is VERY normal -
just because you made it doesn't mean people will come <<
It's time for marketing, being a tech guy that almost feels like that Hommer Simpson episode (https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/000/842/961/27f.jpg) luckily we can ask for help and we learn fast....
Oh yeah client will also be our marketing/distribution channel as we are to rebrand our app to align with their new brand guidelines.
