Shelfgram
Shelfgram, is a repository of shelf and product images
It's been great having users that care enough about the product to provide feedback and feature ideas. Powerpoint export, uploading from your computer, and the ability to share multiple photos in a gallery view are all new features live on the platform that were added to the roadmap from user requests.
When Shelfgram launched, the website was a bit all over the place. Over the last few months, I had been focused on customer conversations and building the web and mobile app to a performant and stable state.
Now that everything's running smoothly and we've got a bunch more clarity on the product roadmap, I thought it would be a good opportunity to give the website a bit of a facelift.
This was a fun project to work on because the website is built in Gatsby so it has all the benefits of a static site generator and the familiarity of React. This new version also includes hundreds of programmatically generated landing pages that should prove useful as support in the sales funnel.

One of the things that gets me excited about the Shelfgram platform is how network effects can contribute to user growth.
For multinational companies using the Enterprise plan, that means getting employees in different countries onboard so that sharing retail insights across global brands is easier than ever. Today, I saw some early signs that this vision could pan out. One the pilots we're doing in Canada has recently got the attention of the UK and Mexico teams.
Video conferencing has become essential to doing business due to COVID-19 and I'm finding it easier than ever to share product demos with folks around the world.

After spending some time looking through the analytics on the mobile app, I noticed a bunch of interesting behaviour and decided to make some pretty big changes to the UX.
I've spent the last two weeks overhauling the mobile app and testing it across iOS and Android. The initial response has been awesome and it's running very smoothly.

The folks at Strategy Magazine reached out to do a profile piece after checking out the platform.
It was great to share a little more about what we're working on with the industry and also showcase the recent partnership with FieldAgent .
Check it out here: https://strategyonline.ca/2020/04/15/shelfgram-facilitates-in-store-visits-from-home/

The impact of COVID-19 has been pretty crazy on what I'm working on. Most retailers are kicking reps out of the store and there's a sudden need for a virtual store check capability. Have had a few hundred users sign-up this week. It's been a good stress test on the API and I've been able to focus on performance and stability to set the platform up to scale.

After a bunch of hard work and learning React Native from scratch, I'm finally done building the minimum viable product for Shelfgram.
I was also able to leverage some tools and frameworks I really enjoy working with like React, Flask, Python, and Heroku.
Excited to get feedback from new users and start working on the long roadmap!

I’m excited to start working on Shelfgram, a new project I've started to provide better visibility to retail execution.
As a former Brand Manager in packaged goods, I know how important doing store checks are. But in reality, most of us don’t find the time to do them often enough, are unable to travel to different cities and countries, and don’t have a great way to share photos with our teams.
The result is an incomplete picture of what’s actually going on across our businesses.
I experienced this problem first hand when working in brand management and wondered if there was a way to instead have the store check come to you.
With Shelfgram, you'll be able to walk the aisles from your laptop and find out what the numbers aren't telling you. When you’re at the store, the Shelfgram mobile app will automatically upload your retail photos to the cloud where they’ll be tagged with an AI and shared with your team.
My goal is to help the industry institutionalize retail execution, and along the way, help companies find new insights for new growth.

Brands struggle to understand what the competition is doing in-store, solve inconsistencies across in-store presentation and verify the execution of store programs. Shelfgram helps them solve all of that and more.
