A cool product deserves a brand new web page. What stays the same? High-quality sound is our priority. What changes? The website and the product are more user friendly. There's now an easy to use GUI to make recording less of a chore!
After delaying the launch date twice (due to unforseen circumstances, of course), we are finally able to launch. The product is working as expected and recording sweet tunes. The landing page is ready and accepting payments. The testers are satisfied and left some great testimonials.
It's time to join the ranks of the Makers who Launched!
The first and the second MVP were console based applications that were a bit cumbersome to use. The logical next step is to introduce a GUI and generate some buzz around the product.
A better UX and a better landing page (both WIP) should lead to more sales.
Most of Linn DSM owners prefer Macs to WIndows or Linux PCs. The main challenge of the second MVP was to bring Songcorder to Mac. Why was it a challenge? Well, lacking a Mac myself I had to resort to some tricks that included using Travis CI, and tmate for a remote Mac session.
One of the Songcorder users decided to push the PayPal donate button. This resulted in the first $5 earned by Songcorder (minus PayPal fees that is).
I wonder how many more would be interested in paying for the software that lets preserve the vinyl quality in digital!
Turning analog sound to digital while preserving the quality is a difficult task. But if you have an Ethernet-connected HiFi system (eg. Linn DSM) ,the most vital pieces are already there.
What's left is catching the resulting stream of bits and saving it in a proper format. That's basically what Songcorder does.
