Splitstack
Server-side split testing made easy
After working hard on it, we've released a killer feature on Splitstack: CNAMEs
Now it's possible to custom domains (your own domain) in your experiments.
This might be useful for a number of reasons and many users have been asking for it.
Now it's live!
We've also implemented the test reset: it's now possible to reset the test and even edit/add/remove the single URLs, without the need to change the test URL.
You can check our documentation to find out more.
After our launch on AppSumo we gathered great feedbacks from our users and we started iterating to improve the product.
New features that we've released:
π Grouping tests: it's now possible to group your experiments inside folders. You might want to group your tests for projects or clients (if you are an agency). You can add and remove tests in a few clicks.
π Roadmap: many users asked us to share our public roadmap. It's done and accessible on Notion --> https://bit.ly/39ePvDD
π Documentation: we've used again Notion to write our Documentation, where users can find detailed instructions on how to set up and launch their experiments easily --> https://bit.ly/39aWYU0
We are working now on one of the feature that has been most requested, which is CNAMEs, meaning the possibility to use custom URLs in your tests.
We've also collected our first great reviews, which is very encouraging.
Go and check them out on our home page --> https://splitstack.co/
Splitstack is the easiest way to AB test your landing pages on the server-side, you can try it for free (no cc required).

We finally released V1 of Splistackππ
We are late by 1 week on our plan, but the last days we've worked hard to get the last bugs fixed and we are now ready to onboard our first users.
We are going to make a post to explain in detail how Splitstack works and why we believe that it's perfect for indies that are looking for an AB testing tool (working on the server-side) at an affordable price (Splistack is 15$ per month - billed annually or 19$ per month - billed monthly).
We're eager to listen to your feedbacks if you want to try it out (No credit card needed).

Last week we finished to fix the last bugs and opened the private beta with 10 testers.
We are now getting the first feedbacks, iterating and improving Splitstack functionalities.
Giving your product to your first users is quite an interesting and exciting moment.
You can finally get different insights from your own point of view and gain some really valuable feedbacks.
Sometimes you are biased in the way you see your product or the use of it: at the end your users are the only ones that "dictate" what you should focus your efforts on.
In the meanwhile we are also coding the frontend of the public site for the launch.

We are getting there...
The past week we've tried to give it a push, despite being quite busy with our company (a performance marketing web agency).
January is normally when the big budgets for the year are going to be assigned, so we had lots of virtual meetings with clients and prospects.
But we've tried to stick to our deadlines for Splitstack, which has meant some night-work (and lots of coffees β) but, hey, you have to put some hard work in if you want to get there!
We estimate to be ready to launch a private beta at some point next week.
What we've accomplished:
@redChili
β
The user can now edit/delete the split test
β
Fixed some issue on the event tracking script and optimized it
β
Started working on the analytics (50% done)
β
Restyled split test card to add more info about the test
β
Switched default theme to dark-mode + added icon to switch back to light-mode
β
Added step to get snippet code
@myself
β
Ended design on Figma for the website, ready to code it

This week we kept working on the product.
Our goal at this stage is to have the tool ready and test it on our own campaigns to see how it performs.
In the meantime we reached out to marketers and CRO experts (people who are running tests in their daily jobs basically) to recruit 30 beta testers that will help us improve the product (we still have some places left btw, if you are one of them and interested just drop me a message!).
Progresses we made on the product itself:
@redChili
β
User can now create a split test (see pic below) by adding up to 5 URLs
β
User can set how the traffic (%) will be split between each URL
β
User can create a custom slug for the test
β
Built library to track events on the page (at the moment: clicks, conversions, pageviews, time spent on page)
β
Created server-side logic for splitting traffic among URLs
@myself:
β
Built and deployed the actual landing page
β
Started sketching the frontend on Figma
β
Talked to beta testers

We are getting excited to try the tool ourselves because we believe it will give us an edge on our competitors for improving conversions for our clients π

It sounds like you and your co-founder have done a little bit of what Iβve been up to. I started taking internal tools that I needed to build and βProductizing Everythingβ. Itβs actually been amazing how every new product or business helps to build new ideas and products faster!

Hi everyone π!
Me and my partner redChili co-founded 2 startups together.
A little background about ourselves: I'm a self-taught web developer and CRO specialist and he's a real geek.
The idea for Splitstack came out from a problem that we've encountered in running one of our startups (a real-time lead generation marketplace).
Everyday we run multiple campaigns for our clients and we need to know which landing page is performing better (= more conversions).
Of course we run all sorts of testing and we've found out that we need a better solution of what's out there.
Some cons of the majority of the tools we've tried:
- client-side tools offer very limited capability in term of editing (you can make just some little changes on the page);
- they often suffer from the flicker effect (when the visitor is shown the control quickly before seeing the correct variant);
- you often need to know your stuff around analytics to understand and gather the results;
- they are way too expensive, expecially server-side solutions, and often over-featured.
We thought there should be an easier way to do it!
Entering Splitstack, a server-side split URL testing tool at an affordable price and with easy-to-read analytics integrated. All in one.
2 tiers: free or 19$ per month.
You won't need to be an expert to use it.
Here how it will work:
- You create and host your landing pages (no limit in numbers)
- Upload the URLs on Splitstack
- Decide how the traffic should be split (%) over each landing page
- We give you back ONE SINGLE LINK, that you can place wherever you want (Newsletters, Facebook Ads, Google Ads....)
- We'll take care of splitting the traffic over all your landing page variations from the back-end through that single link.
- You will be able to track how every single landing page is performing in real-time, through an easy-to-use dashboard, where you will be able to monitor clicks, conversions (% and #), traffic.
We decided to build Splitstack publicly starting tomorrow and share the process along the way.
What's the best place to do it if not here on IH?
Thanks for reading and feel free to share your feedback!

Hi Filippo, please note that the website splitstack.co is not loading for me.

We are building Splitstack to solve our own problem: finding an affordable and easy-to-use tool for server-side testing.
