Increase engagement with smart expiring links

June 7, 2025 TimedURL β€” Links that expire when you decide (with fallback destinations)

Hey Indie Hackers πŸ‘‹

After months of building, I finally launched TimedURL β€” a tool that lets you create short links that automatically expire at a set time or after a certain duration. Once expired, the link redirects to a fallback destination of your choice (like a homepage, waitlist, or archive).

Why I built this:

I got tired of seeing expired content still circulating with dead links β€” old event pages, limited offers, closed beta invites, etc. It’s a poor user experience and makes people lose trust. And fixing it manually is a pain.

With TimedURL, you set the expiry before you share. It handles the rest.

Who it’s for:

  • Marketers running time-limited campaigns

  • Content creators sharing short-lived offers

  • Event organizers, community builders, and anyone who wants control over link lifespan

  • People who value clean, intentional content distribution

Features:

βœ… Set an exact expiry time or duration
βœ… Add a fallback URL for expired links
βœ… Analytics (basic click tracking)
βœ… Fast, clean interface
βœ… No ads or branding

What’s next:

  • I’m working on improving analytics

  • Zapier and automation integrations are in the pipeline

  • Actively gathering feedback for improvements

I’d love your thoughts β€” especially on:

  1. Any pain points you’ve had with sharing time-sensitive links

  2. Features you think are essential before you'd use a tool like this

  3. Creative use-cases I might not have considered

Appreciate your time β€” and if you want to try it: https://timedurl.com
