November 21, 2022 1st Win!

Celebrating small wins is important. And yesterday, hit a milestone that most would consider trivial, but I see as a massive step forward.

I got my first sign up!

And while it isn't 100% organic, I still feel like it's forward momentum. I've been making an effort to be more active on twitter, and got 2 sign ups from engaging with some other Indie Hackers.

November 16, 2022 + Interviews

Talk! To! Your! Customers!

I finally really understand the importance of that. From both the perspective of deeply understanding a problem, as well as possibly getting some early interest that could turn into a 1st sale.

I've spent the past 3 weeks reaching out to my network and doing discovery calls with engineers and engineering leads/CTOs/Directors of Engineering. It's been really encouraging. Hearing a consistent signal through them that is starting to form into a pattern.

1 piece of great advice I got from another founder:
Always wrap up a great discovery call by asking if there's another person that the interviewee thinks might be great to talk to.

This simple trick has been such a huge WIN for me. And it takes almost 0 energy to reap the rewards from. One thing I will say, it only really works if the interviewee has been engaged. If they are bored, they are much less likely to subject someone else to be bored.

  1. 1

Could one interpret a lack of engagement as a sign, though? If the topic doesn't engage the user, doesn't that tell you they are not too invested in the problem your solution is trying to solve?

November 15, 2022 V1.1 of Landing page

After posting the V1 on Roast My Landing page, I've made some revisions and deployed the landing/lead generation page.

I've refined the messaging to be more in line with that the beta will actually be. Going to start pressing it on some socials.

Kind of considering running some ads, but I've never had much success with that. Gonna try and dig in some communities more.

Have another user interview this evening so I feel good about having a nice shiny new landing page to show them if they ask what I'm working on.
