May 17, 2026 I got tired of bloated monitoring tools, so I started building my own

After spending years using monitoring tools that felt noisy, overcomplicated, and expensive, I finally decided to build something simpler.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been working almost nonstop on Uptrue — a lightweight monitoring platform focused on useful alerts, clean status pages, and AI-powered visibility checks.

One thing I kept noticing:
Most monitoring platforms are designed for large companies with massive budgets and teams.

But small SaaS founders, agencies, and indie hackers usually just want:

  • reliable alerts

  • quick setup

  • simple dashboards

  • fewer false positives

  • and something they can actually afford

So that’s what I’m trying to build.

Recently added:

  • AI visibility monitoring

  • WordPress health checks

  • public status pages

  • Slack/Teams/Webhook alerts

  • AI-generated incident summaries

Still early.
Still learning.
Still improving the product daily.

Curious to know:
What’s the most frustrating thing about existing monitoring tools for you?
