July 24, 2022 New Paywall

I've updated the paywall to hopefully increase new trials. I wasn't happy with the number of downloads (average 120/day) and new trials (average 9/day).

I've written a separate post about the intermediate results after two weeks: https://www.indiehackers.com/post/i-updated-my-paywall-and-trials-increased-by-260-1e7e195662

July 1, 2022 Increase Pricing

I've doubled the pricing for the annual subscription. In addition, I "canceled" the quarterly subscription and replaced it with a much more common "monthly" subscription.

I'm a bit curious how this will turn out, but I'll let it go at least for 1 month.

I made the price adjustment during the vacation season, which might skew the results.

Analytics will tell in the end.

Exciting! Looking forward to hearing the results.

Did you increase it for new customers only, or the old ones as well?

I only increased for new subscriptions and grandfathered existing customers.

I'll plan to do a final analysis this week and will share the results.

December 9, 2021 Subscriptions all the things

I'm so dam proud how switching to subscriptions turns out so far. I finally see a chance to do this full-time (together with my second app MinuteTaker).

Reaching $2.8K MRR till today is way higher than I'd expected in April 2021.

Thanks to all 1.700 subscribers for your support and trust.

April 2021 Switching to Subscriptions

Like I did with MinuteTaker some months before, I switched WorkTimes to be subscription-based. Although I have a strong user base – some users stick with WorkTimes since Version 1.0 in 2009 – it's revenue never reached a point that enables me to do this full-time.

Hopefully, this will change...

November 9, 2009 How it all started...

In 2009 I was employed in a corporate and had "trust based" working hours. I really liked that as it gave me a lot of flexibility in structuring my day and my work. As you usually do not work less, but more with that kind of freedom, I felt the need to track my hours.

First (around the end of 2007), I developed a simple web-version of WorkTimes as that was the only way to have "apps" on the iPhone in those days. After the announcement of the "real" App Store I immediately started working on WorkTimes for iPhone.

Finally, on November, 9th 2009 I released Version 1.0 to the App Store.

About

Back in 2009 🤯 I needed a tool to track my hours worked and see my actual overtime as an employee. So I created my first iOS App.
