An iPhone app made for zeroing your inbox

July 26, 2019 Released Zero Inbox 2.0!

For people never heard of Zero Inbox, it's an iPhone email app I build for zeroing inboxes. I created a new kind of swipe action UI, it allows you to choose different actions via single swipe. Such as:

  • Right-Up-Right - Push to Todoist
  • Right all the way - Archive
  • Right-Down-Right - Trash

Same 3 options available for the right direction, please see the video to get a sense of how it works. We also introduced in-mail swipe actions. Combine these two, it's now like Tinder for your email, empowers you to get to inbox zero effortlessly.

To summary up what's new in Zero Inbox 2.0:

  • New email provider UI
  • Add support for all major email providers
  • Gmail Oauth login (more other Oauth support coming)
  • In mail swipe
  • Todoist integration
  • Todo + archive in one swipe

And of course, fixed countless bugs (email apps are really hard to build, so many corner cases πŸ˜…)

Few other features are coming soon

  • Custom IMAP (first priority, yep, many of you are requesting it)
  • Reply
  • Forward
  • Smart avatar (display avatar based on the sender's email)

And possibly a more powerful set of features will come with an in-app purchase subscription plan, not 100% sure yet, but could be

  • Custom swipe actions arrangement
  • One swipe multi-action (like read + forward + archive in one swipe)
  • More third-party action integrations
  • Support multiple email accounts
  • ...

I personally use this app every single day, and enjoy it myself. Also keep improving it when I have time. Hopefully you also find this app helpful, and feel free to let me know what you think or if you have any suggestion, such as third party integration you want me to add, any feature you think would be helpful. I may not have time to build them all, but as long as there are enough of people requesting it and it makes sense, I will add that to product road map. It's a great chance to influence development of this app to make it more useful for yourself 😁 πŸ‘

Quite interesting, congrats @fangpenlin. Are you planning to come up with an app for Android as well?

Yep, I am planning it, but will do that only probably when the iOS version is mature enough.

I love this variation on the swipe gesture!

Are you planning paid upgrades/pro features?

      Thanks.

Yeah, I am planning the paid features.

This is very very cool. The swipe action on the message view is a brilliant idea. Going to give it a try now!

I installed the app and give it a good go. Ultimately decided to stick with gmail + iOS mail for now. Quick notes:

        • swipe action on the message view: I wish this can be done on the whole page instead of a pre-defined area which I have to aim for when I use it. Perhaps it'd be more natural once I get used to the location of it.
        • swipe wheel (the one where you can go right-up or right-down): this is neat. But since I am not a Todoist user, and rarely delete any messages, not really that useful. I can certainly see the potential though!

        Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the feedback, it's pretty helpful 😁 πŸ‘
And yeah, Todoist is the only integration we have for now, I am thinking adding more things, please feel free let me know if you need some specific integration that could make it more useful for your use-case.

The main things I do with emails outside of correspondence are:

            • keep notes and bookmarks as a "read later" type of tool: I have a gmail label setup to keep these emails I send myself and they are automatically archived
            • make-shift CRM tool: I use Gmail's snooze feature to bounce emails back to myself to process later
            • I don't really use email as a Todo tool since it's just a bit too messy, but an integration with a todo app certainly helps with that. I use a few plain text files sync'd with dropbox for my Todo's for max flexibility ;) - probably hard to integrate.

About

I want a simple email app that emphasizes zero inbox plus awesome swipe experience. But I cannot find anything fits my needs, so I build one for myself mostly but also made it a product.
