I decided to shutdown Zimo
by RenéAfter months of hard work and attempts to find product market fit, I decided to cut my losses and shutdown Zimo. I have learned a few things that I want to share.
- Product market fit
Don't the hard things first before even you decide to write code. I know there are a lot of articles out there which talk about product market fit. I would be wise when you have an idea to test out first (not to your friends and family of course) but to your target market. I bypassed this step and found it difficult to find product market fit.
This was a painful experience as I wasted so much resources and time that could have been spent elsewhere. I hope you don't make the same mistake.
- Don't be married to your idea
I was so attached to my idea that I believe it hindered my perspective, which prolong its existence.
It was a long and painful gained in trying to get traction but I also gained a lot of technical skills that I previously did not have. These skills will be invaluable in future ventures.
