Best tool you use to jot down your ideas and organize thoughts on daily basis?

What's your favourite app / tools you use on daily basis to keep you motivated.

      zero outages.

actually... i spilled a glass of wine on my pad the other night, ended up tossing out a bunch of old pages (zero redundancy on the backups, lol)

    2. 1

Same here. I use a dotted moleskine so I can have some structure, but still have room to doodle.

      1. 1

        Simple but effective!

I actually just shared my web app on IH yesterday so I'm going to plug it here:

Thought Reps: Thought Log + Spaced Repetition
    Post on IH

I noticed that a lot of apps for this were very structured and todo-list-like, so I wanted to make something a bit more casual for jotting things down and revisiting your thoughts/ideas.

Would love some feedback if you're up for it!

    1. 1

      Totally unique.. Good one.

  2. 2

Boostnote or if it's more actionable I'll create cards in Trello immediately

  3. 2

Personally, I just use apple notes.

If you're interested in a team solution, I've recently launched TribePulse (https://www.tribepulse.com)

  4. 2

I use Google doc or paper and pen.

  5. 2

I use Bear for notes 🐻 📝 I previously used Evernote and Apple notes. Bear is awesome with markdown formatting !

    1. 2

Same here.. i use both notion and Bear. Love its features.

      1. 2

@Acheilies Yeah I can't get away from Bear, It's perfect for what you need it for!

  6. 2

Pen and paper for jotting day to day
Google keep for... keeping things long term
Amazon wishlist for wants (specifically books)
Todo list is also pen and paper, split into 2 columns up to 25 tasks per categorized as this week and next week

    1. 2

Used google keep for a while, but need a extra features so shifted to notion.

      1. 1

        which features in particular?

i personally get overwhelmed pretty quick when i can do a bunch of stuff with a piece of software. keep's lack of features helps me stay focused

        1. 2

Yes that happens. Actually, I usually add web clips whatever I read sometimes and links as well. Also, I do manage few blogs so I need to track of all I dead and financial stuff in one place, which notion helps me to keep it all in one place.

We've been using a shared mindmap for our project for about a month now, and I'm quite happy with it. Unlike unstructured notes, mindmap helps us to preserve context and motivation behind every random idea. All the top-level nodes in the mind tree represent global directions in which we want to improve OneBar, and all the leafs are typically random thoughts, links, ideas, small action items, etc.
We use miro.com for a mindmap, though I'm pretty sure there should be more tools like this.

    1. 1

All mind map tools are pricy..love to see some free version

  8. 2

Yup. I just use Apple Notes for the most part, organization isn't the best but it's hard to argue with the convenience factor.

    1. 2

+1, which I transfer to GitHub issues

  9. 2

I use Apple Notes, which I transfer into Notion.

  10. 2

I feel alone between all the Evernote and Todoist fans, but I use Google Keep religiously.

    1. 2

Fine product, does more than enough IMHO

  11. 2

Length might suggest complexity, but I have a rather simple routine built on:

    Multiplatform

    • todoist for tasks
    • evernote for thought organizing as needed

    Phone

    • voice recorder for personal standup log (phone only for now)

    RL

    • good old fashioned notebook for logging and detail planning
    • whiteboard (cleaned up approx. weekly and archived on paper or converted to action items in todoist)

ALL action items end up in ToDoist for me, they might be written somewhere else first (like during a meeting or something) but I try to immediately follow up with entry into todoist.

    1. 2

been considering this off and on for a bit...might just have to give it a try for a few weeks

    2. 2

Exactly! Notion, notion, and a bit more notion. It's free, but here's an invite link that will give you and me some free credit if you ever want some of the paid stuff 😉@Acheilies https://www.notion.so/?r=83d6e36991d54e95a2e8b6c98c298e53 ...also @rosiesherry - out of curiosity, is it okay to share links like this on IH?

      1. 2

Loving notion too, it’s mostly become my second brain. The UI works so well for me, I could never get on with Evernote.

The occasional link is fine, I think :) it’s explicit and has loads of excitement in it, so will leave it there unless someone complains.

        1. 2

yeah, it's just really so natural to use, I must recommend it to people I know at least once a week haha 🤓

          1. 1

totally agree.. Love their inbuilt templates.

      2. 1

For sure +1 on Notion, so versatile it's just amazing.

    3. 1

      Definitely at top my list.
