✅ We completed an intensive business incubator and were able to clarify things like our business mission and vision, plus learn from seriously interesting and successful business operators.
✅ We started our content marketing and SEO journey on our blog
✅ We've enrolled our first team member so we can focus more on strategy and marketing

We now know where we want to end up in 5 years and we're working towards it.

February 1, 2019 Business Model Overhaul

We were burned out from doing weeks of work, submitting on time, then having to chase clients to pay us. It also made our cashflow very unpredictable and stifled our growth.

So we took a page from the book "Pumpkin Plan" by Mike Michalowicz and assessed our clients. Which of them were the most-to-least profitable, the easiest-to-hardest to work with, etc.

We notified all our clients that we're going to be switching from ad-hoc invoicing in arrears to monthly retainers, and we're going to be raising our rates. We parted ways with a few clients but most of them swapped to our new PayPal subscriptions and it's been that way ever since.

September 22, 2018 "Launched" a new product line

We decided to put feelers out to see who would be interested in having us help them launch their podcasts. We opened it to our network and made the product free and we got an overwhelming number of signups. We whittled down the list to 6 and helped them launch their shows.

From that one free cohort we created content we were able to use over and over again and that product line became our most profitable one.

March 8, 2018 How it all began

We sent out 200 cold DMs to podcasters offering to edit an episode so they can see how I work and hopefully work with me. Most ghosted, some took the free work and ran, but 100% zero luck. Until someone saw me presenting in a FB group and reached out. He became my first $1000/month client (and my first client period).

About

Everything I read and the courses I took focused on getting big CPMs and finding sponsors. But all I wanted was to make a living building an audience and solving their problems with solutions I'm really good at.
