Producthunt Archive
20 days past after the latest update which was the landing page of Prodhunt. One or two sales happened in the meantime, more than 40 domains re-taken.
Now, finally I eat the frog and started the day working on the landing page for the Treasury.
I took my own advice and before jumping into youtube tutorials where they explain fancy transitions, absurd layouts. I've Read The Fabulous Documentation and realized all this time my tailwind code to tangle was to forget using container class in the root element.
After that, all was a breeze, I'm again happy with the copy. This is my second ever landing page. It's like expecting the muscles grow while thinking about going to the gym. Instead I opt in to start writing. Not the best headline or the template, yet it feels good to come up with something and put it into internet.
If you are reading this, check out https://prodhunt.com/treasury and let me know what do you think.
A lot has changed in a few days. I've made a bold move to change my twitter handle. Especially for an indie hacker who kinda unlocked this achievement by getting lucky.

It was a hard decision but it's better late than never. I've created 0xAnil to share English/entrepreneurial tweets yet I've realized that I wasn't using the original handle at all since I've started indiehacking.
Anyways, in the meantime I've updated the landing page with the awesome feedbacks I gathered from fellow members. Appreciate them all.
Here is a preview of before and after.
I've went through the whole copy, shortened the headline. Explained use-cases and bullet-point the what's inside part.
And those illustrations from undraw, oops! I forgot to credit.
If you like to see its evolution;

I guess I fell in love with the Vercel. ❤️
I was digging the old folders to take an old screenshot. I wasn't sure if I was able to see previous versions as snapshots, yet here we are.

"Multi-purpose use cases"?
Good copy highlight what problem your product will solve. Especially when it's not a super basic one. A reader here has to read half the page to get some suggestions on this. But if you don't hook his attention with the title he won't get there. A quick idea: "Where do you find reliable data to plan your next project?"After that you can promise the result and introduce your product. If I have that pain, I will go on reading the rest of the page.

It seems to me an example of the "iPad dilemma".
Steve had a new product, it was not a phone nor a laptop. For a new potential buyer it wasn't clear how to use it.
So during his presentation (contrary to the usual) he made sure to have an armchair on stage. He sat on it, and he showed how convenient it was the reading experience on this new iPad.
Is that the only way you can use an iPad? No.
When I was working as a pharmacist, salesmen used it to present the stats of their new drugs.
You can use it to take notes. And there's many other potential applications. But on stage Steve presented in detail only one use-case.
So people started to buy it, and they took care to spread the ideas for other potential applications.
In your situation is even more necessary to highlight one specific use-case, since you haven't all the brand recognition of Apple or Steve Jobs.
It seems to me that either you get the attention of a specific group, or it will be super hard to have the attention of anybody.
"without wasting too much time of the visitor, with a single sentence I urge them to scroll through and see the demo of the product."
I think it is risky. If the user doesn't trust you already, it's easier for him to go back without losing more time. After all there's no clear upside for him.
Maybe you can test different headlines if you have a mailing list (or through some ads in alternative).

Checked the domain list and saw that 42 of them taken back!

Mostly parked but as I check, 4 of them redirected to related projects. Which was a use case I didn't think of. $10 to thousands of backlinks, fair deal.
Other 4 actually started to build something which is awesome! I'll be keeping an eye on them.
To celebrate, prices are 42% off or for the next 48 hours, whichever comes first. Buy Link
If you don't want to spend a dime, you can follow Prodhunt on twitter where I share these domains occasionally.

Special thanks to Maeva for her brilliant suggestions¹ and Chris for encouraging me to give it another go².
I can't say it's looking good or am I feeling great about it. Previously I used a free template from cruip, now I've copied some parts from tailwindcss' website and altered. Even with copying some code, it took longer than what I'd want to spend. However I'm relieved to finally be able to write some copy (not claiming it's great either), which was a troubling topic for me. Nice to remove this from to-do list. Now to move on to some marketing. 2-15 more sales to hit yearly goal. Shouldn't be hard to achieve within 27 days. 🤞
1: Make me regret for not outsourcing
2: I will brutally shut down your idea and tell you to get a real job 😈

Recently I created a twitter account for Prodhunt. I'll be sharing abandoned projects with their .com domains. As an additional information I'll include backlink and referring domains count from ahrefs.
It's highly inspired from @productnames by Stephen. If you are looking for unexplored ideas you should check that out.
Next stop will be the youtube channel where I'll be sharing daily bar chart races for products on PH.

I wasn't going to create a landing page, now I'm creating social media accounts. You can follow Prodhunt on Twitter.
I'm going to share daily chart-races, some weird account activities and occasional tips and tricks to improve your launch.
Recently I got great suggestions to improve the landing page. Since I'm putting more effort & time on it, this'll affect the prices. It's going to be $420 after BF. That's when I set the deadline for the new LP. So 🤞 for some copy inspiration!
Give it a follow and expect to get limited discounts after the price change.
Have a nice day!

It's time to share a collage. Here is a list of what I did and what I expected to happen in a short period of time.
Bought a domain
Created a landing page
Shared on IH, HN, Reddit
Well domain cost seems nothing but also went for nothing at least for now. Landing page was a huge work for me since I can't assemble a sentence when I try to work on it. I always started from 0 to learn CSS. This time I went with a free template and it turned out to be meh, ok-ish.
Anyways, here are the results :)

That 1 view was mine. It seems to me "Give give give then ask" was an expensive and useless advice that I got recently.

Haters only show up when it reaches to popular feed I think. I didn't expect anyone to say great job, only curious to hear their thoughts.

At least it's not removed by mods 👍

Why should someone buy it? What problem is it solving? Who is it for? Sell the benefit.

I understand what you're saying but unfortunately that's not how marketing works 😂
You need to answer these questions to position your product.
Hypotetical example:
Who is it for? Founders and makers who want to launch on PH
What problem is it solving? Launching on PH is hard and there's a concrete possibility their launch will flop
Why should someone buy it? They can use this data to increase their chances of getting a successful PH launch
Then you use these answers to build your landing page.

However I never get hooked with those. If a person can't see the value in it, I believe it's hard to convince them especially with a few pre-written sentences.
Hmm... You really need to think hard about this. Do you really believe this? Or do you just want to believe it?
Google is a multi billion dollar company because companies pay them every single millisecond so that they can show a few prewritten sentences about their product.

🤔 True, you might not be hooked by marketing speak and buzzwords. But I think everyone is effected by and appreciates a clear explanation of a product. If someone can't even understand what and who your product is for, you're preventing them from even getting to the research phase. I agree though that buzzwords have little to no effect on frugal and/or well informed buyers.
Even for well informed buyers, it's pretty helpful to explain things that might seem obvious to you as the founder/maker. I think you've done a decent job of that, though. 👍 More explanation and examples will rarely hurt, though.

Hi, I'm more or less in the same position, just having posted to IH and Reddit and not having any subscribers/comments/reactions. Next thing I'm going to try is PPC and some paid listings.
Your price tag is pretty high, it would take a professional copy IMHO to sell. Right now it looks, sorry for being straight, "some guy just scrapped (read: stole) PH data and is selling it for big $$$". I would add a few suggestions what to do with your data. Or, better, make something useful with it yourself.

OK, then IH and Reddit might not be your target audience. I thought that it would work for say somebody who would feed it into a neural net and create a tool that would tell you if you gonna succeed on PH or not.
In any case, I would definitely start with smth like "this is for ... who wants ...", and post it to relevant places, like where all the domain buyers/sellers are.

I have written a few posts about Prodhunt earlier on IH. First was called Repurpose which explains where the idea came from specifically which tweet pushed me to work on this.
Second one where I introduced it to fellow IH.
And the last one tells me that I need to implement my own analytics and checkout process. Which needs to wait. I've been slacking for the last month just to prepare a landing page that I finally started and finished within a day. Bought a domain and released it into the wild.
Finally time to move on. This has been bugging me for a while, now I'll get a good sleep and start working on the next idea. 💪🏼
