Simplemnt
Customer Onboarding Portal for B2B SaaS
A customer we were talking to pre-Covid came back to us! This was our most complex sale to date, requiring a ROI use case, a bake-off with competitors in this space, and multiple teams in the organization who wanted to use Simplemnt for different use cases.
COVID-19 forced us to reevaluate our plans by slowing down our sales pipeline, so we felt this was a great time to invest in our content marketing and product.
On our new blog (simplemnt.com/blog) We tapped into Sai's personal experience with this problem to start blogging about how we want to solve this problem and the challenges organizations can face while doing so. We also created a case study of our first customer (simplemnt.com/success-stories)
We also rewrote our product frontend from the ground up using more UI best practices and a proper frontend framework. We noticed that a good UI would be key to our product success, both on the adoption side as well as our customer's customer experience during the onboarding process.
Hopefully both of these investments will pay off in the long run!

Third time is definitely the charm! This was our first customer to come in via a warm intro, and it made the process much easier!
We closed our third customer using a different pricing model to test out our hypothesis, and it seems like both models might work (per set vs flat).
They were able to set up and configure the end-to-end process in Simplemnt with limited help from us, making us more confident that our product makes sense and is usable by our ICP.
With each new customer, we are seeing that we have the table stakes covered and everything we build new seems to be useful to the others as well. This makes us feel like we are building a solid platform instead of random one-off features.

If the first customer was a fluke, the second customer gives us more hope that we are on to something.
We spent a lot of time refining the product and our value propositions during the past few months, and it seems to have paid off.
Our second customer actually left his previous role where we were talking to him, and brought us into his new org as part of his 90 day plan. Excited to work with them!

We decided to go full time on Simplemnt! This was a long time coming, but we decided that in order to support our customers and give this the effort we needed to succeed, going full time would be the right choice.
With just 10 customers we can be default-alive, and this seems very doable.

After going through our first Startup School, we applied to YC. We didn't think we would get an interview as we were still super early, but to our surprise we did!
After a week of frantic prep, we went into the meeting as confident as we could be.
After coming out of the room, we knew there was a very low chance we got in. However, it was a great experience and we learned a lot.

Our first customer worked with us to set up their onboarding process in Simplemnt and ran their first test client through this new process.
Their customer was able to get through the new process in Simplemnt with no issues, and we are already seeing improvements in their time-to-value metrics!
Our customer is ready to roll Simplemnt out to all their new customers now!

After a month of shopping around mocks to customer success and implementation teams, we finally closed our first customer! And they are paying us!
The crazy thing is this customer was found from a cold email with no context or introduction. We just found their VP of Integrations on LinkedIn and reached out.

We were working on RPA (Robotic Process Automation) and our primary use case was automating the collection and parsing of onboarding spreadsheets. We saw so many people copy/pasting information in an unstructured way that we thought automating this process would be the right way forward.
However, we then realized that building a whole end-to-end platform around customer onboarding might be a more valuable solution. It also helped that Sai was the product manager who built this exact solution at his previous role.

About
B2B SaaS Customer Onboarding is fundamentally broken. Everyone is using a hodge-podge of clunky tools and strategies to try and drive their customers to success, leading to poor customer experiences and outcomes.
