Intuitive URL shortcuts to share with the rest of your team
I've managed to find 3 different teams to work with on SuperGo. I think it would have been a great exercise for me to engage more with these teams on a regular basis to understand more clearly what they needed, however I lacked the interest.
Regarding user activity, all teams were active on a weekly basis, however not all users were daily active. The number of go/links created was particularly lower than what I expected (I create tons). In the end, I could have validated interest in this product by doing a survey, however because I was actually building that thing for myself, I did not bother.
The business partnering opportunity did not happen as planned, mostly because the prospects were not as excited as I was.
When it came to pricing, I realized that to actually make $3k MRR I'd need something like 1.5k users at $2 per month – I do not think I could sell this kind of service for more.
Stopped working on it around june, end of july made a quick quirky landing page. Overall, it was a fun project, I learned more stuff about nextjs/react, and now time to turn the page.
The website is available for free, and I put a page were people can buy me a coffee if they like, so it supports the infra costs.
Early March, I realized that I wanted to try build that tool for real, with a proper interface to create, edit & delete go/links. A tool with accounts, and teams, that would work for me but also for my friends.
And I then realized that some of my friends could actually be clients, or even better, business partners 🤞
So I started where I left – which was more or less from scratch!
It requires actually a lot more work than I thought ..! Well I have my own go/links app up and running. I can type go/something and get redirected, however I do need to go into mongodb to manually add a document, to create a new go/link.
Definitely not ideal, but it's my own go/link app!
Or actually I did not ..! I was used to use go/links at LinkedIn, and missed them so much.
When I left LinkedIn to start working on a start-up project, I went with a company providing go/links as a service because I missed them so much. This company is now a competitor!
I then started a new job, and I was about to get an account with the company when I suddenly felt like I could build this for myself – which would be way cooler.
